Were the letters all signed “John Barron?”

Those individuals who send life-threatening messages need to be identified by state and/or federal authorities and charged in a court of law. I for one have had enough. If you disagree with a decision (once it has been made and announced), identify yourself and state your belief and why you disagree. That is what is protected. Not hiding and threatening individuals.

We can empathize and sympathize with the difficult role public servants must now play in today’s no holds barred political theater…deranged malcontents and perpetual losers have no choice but to crank up the rhetoric and threats. Their job is difficult enough without dealing with the irrational behavior that that gets more intense…encouraged and condoned by people in a position to mitigate the insanity.

This is true of journalists as well as elected officials. My spouse is a retired investigative journalist for a major publication, and even in the 1980s and 1990s we received threats of harm (dousing with acid) and death. One time the large office of his publication was on lock down due to a bomb threat to him. I shudder to think what journalists go through today, as well as people willing to serve on boards such as school and library, city councils and county positions, let alone state and federal offices and agencies.

“sometimes when people are unhappy, they act in a way that could create harm.”

She’s a master of understatement. She knows what’s coming.

I am shocked - shocked - to discover there are ignorant racist mothers***ers in Georgia. Shocked.

And today it’s much easier to get information about someone, and methods to deliver threats is easier too.

This. What it means is that you limit the pool of potential candidates to the folks who are willing to shrug this kind of stuff off (or are partners with the perpetrators). Which is really not a good thing.

Isn’t that special.

Yes, political theater become “reality” media, amplified to fire up broken arrows.
I’ve seen too many reports that, ‘privately Republicans criticize FPOTUS, but publicly they’re silent.’ No doubt they take the threat seriously, as if the thugs are right around the corner. International organized crime is still trying to bust-out our nation to make it great for them again.

Guess whose congressional district is nearby?

All the more reason that justice needs to be served with regard to January 6th. We can’t have a nation if an angry mob of extremists isn’t willing to be equal under the law. This means Donald Trump, this means Ammon Bundy, this means anyone who doesn’t understand that we are a nation of laws.

Fulton County DA Gets Racist Threats …

…because of course she does.

I’ll take “Depressingly Inevitable Headlines” for $100, please.

Sure it did. But the traitors are acting like they won. And they have at least some evidence to support their assessment.

ETA: I was just reflecting on this bit in the bio of Emine Yücel’s bio at the bottom of the article:

Emine double majored in African American studies and Neuroscience at Northwestern University, where she also competed on the varsity fencing team.

What a marvelous combination. Knowing the sad history, plus knowing what’s broken inside the skulls of the knuckle-draggers, plus the ability to skewer them like a kebab if it becomes necessary!

AHHH, but you are dealing with cowards and hateful white supremacists (redundant, I know). They are the cockroaches that scatter under the baseboards when the light goes on. I hope there is some investigation into who they are and that they are punished for issuing threats, but I doubt that is top priority right now.

Hate to tell you, but they are everywhere. It ain’t just Georgia.

That is one of their intents. Threaten people off school boards, Poll workers, news investigators , anyone who does not toe the extreme rightwing line. Then they fill those positions so that they can perpetrate their agenda on everyone. It is working!

Even more reason for Willis to request a gag order on Trump for anything related to the case, given his history of incitement rhetoric. There’s no way in hell Trump could or would obey the gag order, so then it’s a short step to request detention until trial. Go, Fani, go!
