Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said on Sunday that American tourists who want to visit countries in the European Union, which has largely banned nonessential travel due to COVID-19, will be allowed to do so this summer if fully vaccinated.
So heartening. I was discussing the current situation with two people yesterday and we all agreed things are improving. Nothing is over, but we’re getting some measure of our lives back. One person was talking about the west of Ireland, how beautiful it was, and I could just see the cliffs and feel the wind coming off the ocean. And in a few months you could go, and stand there and think just how big and beautiful a place the world is. A year ago the moron-in-chief was saying hey if bleach works on playground equipment maybe we could inject it into people. Lots of ground covered in that time. See you out in the world, folks.
For the last year I haven’t been able to travel to the EU because of Covid 19. Now that I am fully vaccinated it will be like all the other years when I couldn’t afford a vacation.
I’ve forgotten which organization it was that was updating travel recommendations but they were listing about 80% of countries as “do not go”. See if I can find the article.
The Times noted that individual E.U. countries may still be allowed to keep tighter restrictions even when the European Commission changes its travel policy.
Uh, yeah. This seems to be quite a huge carve-out, and pretty much nullifies this official’s announcement. The EC can change the policy however they choose, but if all the countries can all back-of-the-hand this update, nothing effectively changes…
Fly to the EU? This moron, because of her ignorance and refusal to wear a mask, is now not even able to fly to get to her job as an Alaskan state senator. These people are unbelievable.
Of course even the EU isn’t saying come on over starting this week. Pretty sure the premise is that infection rates will start falling as they have most notably in Israel, which made a very serious push on vaccines. And again, we’ve very quickly vaccinated fully or partially a whole lot of people, but we’re not over it all ourselves.
