This is just the beginning. Cruise lines, resorts, other countries, indoor music venues, and eventually airlines will require proof of vaccination to use their services. Many restaurants at some point may follow. Most grade and high schools, universities, and other institutions will also soon mandate vaccination.
This is how we get to herd immunity, by forcing the morons to get vaccinated. It works for me.

But wait, donāt all land-based modes of transportation (car, train) require you to enter Canada? Who may have other ideas about letting people through and masks, etc.?
Really be a shame if she canāt leave the stateā¦

Iām thinking by July itās the standard. Still have a couple of months where vaccination is about access and whether people can get it, but once the notion of āget mask-free mingling at the bar, door-check for proof of vaccinationā becomes a thingāand it will-- the takeoff in those businesses will encourage others to follow suit. States can help by lifting all restrictions at compliant facilities to encourage it.

Here in Germany you now have to have a negative quick-test result before you can go to the hairdresser, etc. About an hour before your appointment, you have to go to the apothecary/pharmacy and have one done ā you can pick up the paper about a half-hour later.
The German government is covering the costs of these, so nobody can whine about it. (And, no, even if you have a self-test at home, that is not sufficient ā has to be independently administered and stamped.) The only thing anyone can whine about is the inconvenience, but who cares?

Iāve been watching āKarenā videos and itās just so funny. This one dude tries to buy soap on vacation with three of his moron friends, makes a big show of getting the soap masklessly and leaving a bill, they make it clear itās not a sale and the guy says ooh you touched me thatās assault and goes out with the soap, then they follow the group out and the debate continues outside, then the guy starts saying heās making a citizenās arrest on the manager and another guy, and finally the cops roll up and grab soap boy and hustle him off to the vehicle in cuffs. In the process the guy must have told them "I made a citizenās arrest" four dozen times as the cop says to get in the truck. Finally they just grab him and push him in and the friends say ooh police brutality youāre in trouble now. And off the guy goes to the lockup because he just had to be the wise guy who gets away with stuff.

I havenāt seen my daughter in Canada in over a year, despite it being only a few hours drive away. Please, Justin, do the same!

Do you realize that they have identified 771 variants in India? And itās just starting. Of course, the vaccines still work on most of them, but thatās a lot of variants.
The second wave also has been fueled by 771 new strains, including highly infectious ones first detected in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Brazil. Another, B.1.617, was first discovered in India, and authorities believe it spreads more rapidly than earlier strains. It appears more resistant to vaccines, too.

A lot of people make travel plans way ahead of time, here it is almost May. Anything could happen regarding Covid anywhere, regardless of being invited into the EU. Youāre invited until youāre not. Iām sure theyāre just a little worried over losing so much money from no tourists.
I love to travel, but really donāt want to be on edge the whole time and have people wondering why all these entitled Americans are traveling again.
US, highest number of Covid cases, highest amount of vaccines.

I dearly want to go back to Ireland this year- Kerry, Clare and Connemara are gorgeous, and we miss the music and our musician friends. Fingers crossed. And I hope the same is true for England , as we havenāt seen our daughter and granddaughter there for so longā¦

Was thinking that very same thing. Of course, that assumes she can think.

Didnāt I hear a few days ago that England has formally declared its pandemic over? So itās reasonable to hope there as well.

Donāt think the invite is at risk, the big question marks will be what you can do when you get there. If you end up stuck with curfews, closed venues and other local restrictions, not quite the same thing as normal times at all.
