Fresh Out Of Jail, Weisselberg Could Face Perjury Charges If He Doesn’t Cooperate With Bragg

Out of the frying pan, into the fire: Allen Weisselberg, former chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, was just released from Rikers Island after testifying against the Trump Organization and pleading guilty to tax fraud. If he doesn’t cooperate with federal prosecutors on another Trump case, he could face new charges.

This guy and ‘nothing fishy here’ Calamari are classic stooges. Just dumb enough to be flattered with a big title around a little paycheck, then placed in the noose.

Btw, had this one as wallpaper on my laptop for months. Missed the race to post by a whisker.

One can only hope that the threat of a Rikers Reprise is enough to get him to flip.

Glad to see prosecutors haven’t given up on this guy yet. After being neck-deep in Trump Crime Family misadventures for decades, it’s unthinkable that he’s remained entirely ignorant (even if he had been actively cultivating ignorance).

Squeeze this guy until he serves up Trump on a platter.

two-year pressure campaign Bragg has mounted to get Trump’s former associate to testify against Trump personally, especially in light of the federal indictment Bragg brought against Trump earlier this year.

Bragg is a NY state district attorney. He does not and cannot do federal charges.

I think the issue for Bragg is to up the ante from the civil charge(s) against tRump to criminal charges, and yes, all on behalf of the State of NY, not federal. Seems we’ll have to wait for Jack Smith to do his magic legal wrangling to see more sparks fly putting the orange blob in further legal jeopardy.

And you’re right…I think the reporter might have gotten it wrong writing up the article. You might wanna send her an email requesting a correction. You corrected me once not too long ago.

Getting serious Mueller failure PTSD flashbacks from that image… (yes I know others got charged but the only one who matters skated all the obstruction of justice charges).

If you don’t understand the difference between a special counsel reporting to Billybarr and one reporting to Garland, you are on the wrong website.

As a reminder, Garland also ignored the Mueller report obstruction allegations and let the statute of limitations run out.

As a reminder, Mueller had been retired for two years by then, and the Mueller report recommended that congress do something about the president. Congress impeached, failed to convict and remove, and Barr closed the matter. AGs almost never reopen a case that has been closed by a predecessor. Comparing a 3 year old closed case with a report from an active directly reporting special counsel, is a false equivalence.

I guess Bragg isn’t the wishy-washy chickenshit so many insisted he was. Garland, however, absolutely is.

Part of me feels sorry for Weisselberg . . . the same part that feels sorry for that lamp in the IKEA commercials. I will get over Weisselberg more quickly.

(In fact, I am feeling better already.)

“Luxury cards”? That’s supposed to read “cars”, correct?

I think he is harder core than thought. He needs to be threatened with 10 years not a few months.

Shoulda gone all "Maximum John" Sirica on him from the beginning. That was a guy who knew how to make a felon sing.

" especially in light of the federal indictment Bragg brought against Trump earlier this year. "

Bragg did not bring a federal indictment against Trump, Bragg is not a federal prosecutor.

Worth the wait!

As a reminder, Jack Smith is the guy who brought campaign violation suit against John Edwards. He’s a very aggressive straight shooter, who was appointed to be Special Counsel. He’ll bring charges.

That and it’s very hard to imagine him giving up his gig at The Hague if he were not permitted to “go there”.
