Fox News Reporter Rips WH For Dodging On ‘Definitive’ Statement Against White Supremacy

Fox News White House correspondent John Roberts on Thursday ripped White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany after she failed to answer his question on whether she can give a “definitive” statement on President Trump denouncing white supremacists.

Guess the oligarch class has moved on to trying to save the Senate. Someone let Roberts off his leash for this.

I’m sorry but the answer to the “why won’t he denounce” question is simple Politics 101 - you don’t piss off your base.

She can definitely say that the great and powerful president views white supremacy groups as groups of a different color.

Roberts’ is the exasperation of a doctor who tells a patient she has to quit smoking and she says “It’s just that I have big bones” and he splutters “What are you even talking about?” They’re trying to help, and not being allowed to because Trump is never wrong.

I believe he’s honestly exasperated, and a good choice of messenger. But this is partially theatre too.

You might not have been paying attention Mr. Roberts. But you work for a broadcaster whose audience consider White Supremacy awesome, at very least… well… Kosher!

It took a while John, but now you realize the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

During the briefing Thursday, Roberts asked for “a definitive and declarative statement without ambiguity or deflection” on Trump condemning white supremacy.

After McEnany insisted that “this was answered by the President himself” and that he has “condemned more than any president in modern history,” Roberts pushed back by noting that she did not specifically answer his question as she kept pointing to the President’s past remarks.

There it is… the patented “more than any president in history” ™

Actually he has been condemned more than any president in modern history but don’t let that get in your way K-Lie.

I don’t know much about Roberts, to be honest. Trying to unpack this, I figured it did kind of go both ways. But I think their strategic thinking is that Trump will probably lose, and as broadcasters who purport to explain the world to you they need to be on the record as having seen problems ahead.

Who’s “contriving” what? Those false eyelashes are going to start drooping with Kayleigh’s sweat flops.

Yes. And since they tilt pro Republican (or more accurately lie down in that direction), they hear the voices of Senators who are terrified by the repercussions of Trump’s racism too. I guarantee you Murdoch hears directly.

Yep that’s right. The overtly racist stuff is reserved to the prime time “opinion” shows.

She’s just so pathetic. A WH Press Sec would never, ever have a problem restating something a president clearly said. “He already said that” only works if it’s followed by a quote of what he actually said. What he actually does say is, “Proud Boys? Never heard of 'em.”

Denouncing would put this story to bed. The only reason to not denounce, and take all this heat, is because you completely meant what you said.

Why won’t you denounce white supremacists? Why won’t you show us your birth certificate?

Two sides of the racist coin.

How do you flip a coin that only has one side?

Thanks for the link.

As it was a Bush appointed judge who stopped this dog and pony show, it always strikes me how far the right wing has slid toward complete autocracy in the last 20 years. I am sure most of the Trump/McConnell picks of the recent past (25% of the judicial branch and counting) would have let this go forward without a thought.
