Lawmakers who served on the Jan. 6 select committee responded Tuesday to Donald Trump’s claims that he received a target letter from special counsel Jack Smith, expressing optimism that there would be accountability “at the very top” for the events that led to Congress being stormed in an attempt to subvert democracy.
Definitely not a cult.

The “Trumpettes” in this country want to maintain the fiction that his political resurrection is inevitable in order to intimidate individuals and offices into doing what they want rather than what is in the best interest of the collective nation. Once Trump gets stopped, it’s over for them. And the “Republican Party”, which lost control of the wacky fringe groups decades ago, should follow.
Keep moving forward. Enough of the attempts to intimidate by the Republican Party. Let them accept the rule of law, not the law of the bought out.
Empty Greene really needs to work on expanding her vocabulary. I’m much more interested in what Mr. Smith will have to say in court.

It’s incredible how desperate the trumpublican excuses for their Savior’s crimes have become. Why might the Justice Department (etc, etc) be pursuing him? Oh no! it could NOT be because they have evidence he’s committed High Crimes! This, from the same folks who hid in their offices under the furniture, or hysterically called for help, and had nothing but vitriol for You Know Who on Jan 6.
We need more video of the Hawley Hustle and other lawmakers fleeing. Video or at least audio of their statements on the night of Jan Six, or during Impeachment II: the Insurrection. Democrats (hello, DNC!) need to be airing ads based on these incontrovertible records from now through Election Day. Just reminding folks a few weeks before “Last Chance to Vote” day is shortsighted.
And Democrats need to link each and every Republican with The Crimes of Donald Trump. Because they all support and approve of those crimes.
He only targets Republicans because he’s a weak little bitch for the Democrats.

I can’t wait till we are at war with someone and the Republican patriots step up and belittle the opposing army. No need for a defense department. MTG will write nasty things on twitter and they will lay down their arms and sue for peace.
It’s Michigan. What are the chances that the DeVos family and the Blackwater organization, or whatever their name is now help to fund their defense?
It will be interesting to see if the Republican party is ever able to break away from Trump. We’re way past the point that arguing anything he does will cause them to turn away…no behavior or awful things he says seem to matter. Major indictments may be different, especially if it pulls enough support from independents and non-right wing Republicans to cost the Republicans elections…losing power will be a big incentive to bail on Trump.
But, they fear his base will turn on them, perhaps violently, and cost them power anyways by forming their own crazy party. Some Republican politicians are definitely lining up to embrace the crazy and try to be its leader after Trump…that’s really not going to be healthy for our democracy, especially if they continue to hold enough of a power base to affect the national discourse and what the government can do.
I guess we’ll see…you can bet that Smith has Trump dead to rights on the evidence, he wouldn’t pursue this otherwise, and maybe that evidence will finally break through the psychosis.

Do you know why the left is scared shitless? It’s because we have come to a point where a large percentage of the population will vote in favor of the insurrection.
