I’m wondering if trump has made up his mind about Putin. Initially he called Vlad a “genius” and then day before yesterday said we should “bomb the shit out of him”. Which is it donald?
And how does the rest of the GOP feel about supporting a guy who’s army blows up a maternity/children’s hospital full of children. What threat to Putin do they represent?
I am imagining trump going into contortions trying to hide behind the 5th amendment should he be called to testify. We know he loves to blabber on and on and will riff if given a chance. The 2020 election or windmills …it does not matter. But saying “I am invoking my right to not testify” and then nothing else? I cannot imagine trump being silent beyond saying he takes the 5th when asked a question. It has to be painful to be silent in his case.
Well it is no surprise Flynn pled the Fifth Amendment, but did the committee get the documents and phone records ? The Fifth Amendment only protects against self-incrimination, not incrimination from stupid stuff you did and talked about or wrote about in the recent past.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think if you have the privilege to serve in some of the highest positions in government such as President, VP, Cabinet Secretary, etc., that your ability to take the fifth should be constrained to personal matters only.
There’s something very odious about trying to use your powerful position in government to overturn an election, then fall back on the fifth to avoid consequences of a likely crime against Americans. This isn’t like a run of the mill fraud case. If you just can’t help but commit crimes, stay the hell out of government.
And I know that’s not going to happen. But it should.
This quote should find delighted, welcoming ears when it reaches Xi, who is still in power in a nation with a top-ten network of international agents; and when it reaches Kim, who is still in power in a nation with a small but ruthless network of international assassins.
This “explanation” that Donald Trump was praising foreign dictators to “play” them is just another version of what we saw for years, when Trump would say he was joking about this or that. “Why are you all upset? It was just a joke.”
[The] false narrative based on the committee’s wrong view of the 5th Amendment,” Warrington said, adding that “most of the questions lacked any relation to the legislative purpose” for which the committee was founded
They’ll just keep spewing that bs line until the media starts vomiting it back up, however they couch it. You know, not like Ken Starr did with President Clinton and the Whitewater investigation. A land speculation that lost the Clinton’s some money somehow turned into consensual semi sex with a young but adult woman end of the world crime.
The republicans of today have no fealty to the country or the Constitution, or the rule of law, they have no idea what that is, and when people like John Kasich come off half reasonable, or Asa Impeachment Manager Hutchinson, you have nothing but a political party of traitors, thieves, liars, and hypocrites, representing no one but themselves and whoever is yanking their strings.
