Then the problem is that they aren’t getting enough. Not that she is getting too much.

Current day China is not a bastion of open communication. Direct communication with scientists without going through the govt probably does not happen.

With the COVID-19 pandemic potentially nearing an end, Trump administration officials responsible for managing the crisis have begun to try to spin their way out of the carnage that the virus left behind.”
… … … …
(((WAVES ARMS)))
!!! This pandemic is far from over. Many seem to think the virus will go away.

GET THIS THRU YOUR HEAD PEOPLE. THE COVID VIRUS WILL ALWAYS BE HERE!!!

Maybe not everywhere like now but this virus is out of the bottle because trump fired the team we had in Wuhan who’s job it was to stop epidemics. Like the flu, covid will always be here. We need to understand this. And act accordingly. The pandemic is not over. A surge of infections is beginning right now because of idiots like Gov. Abbott and the kids in Florida.
I really am sorry to have to say this. I wish I was wrong but the science I know tells me I am right.

MERS / SARS / CORONAVIRUS. We lucked out twice. And after all the millions of cases, and deaths, we still haven’t admitted we have a massive, world-wide medical opponent, which can mutate quicker than we “super-humans” can bat an eye. Here’s today’s Worldometer tally for the world. And it won’t be the end of it:

Coronavirus Cases:

128,226,188

Deaths:

2,803,969

With Mers and sars we had a “playbook” of steps to follow to stop viruses cold or mitigate their spread. trump stuck the book in the “circular file” because Obama had put his finger prints on it. Worse yet when trump fired the epidemic response office within the NSC his reason for closing that outfit was “They just stand around and collect their paychecks” That’s transactional trump in a nutshell and 2.8 million families are grieving. We. could. have. stopped. this. but. for. a. case. of. epic. petulance.

I hate deliberate stupidity.

It’ll be here, sure, but not because of Trump. The asymptomatic spread meant that this was well seeded globally before anyone but the Chinese who had their lab accident knew the extent of the problem.

I remember being in NYC for that New Years with friends, and some normally hearty folks that spent a lot of the time in their hotel rooms with “the worst flu ever” that they had had. Many other people have similar anecdotes from the same time, well before it was known to be here.

Trump’s response was horrid, true, but he’s not the original bad actor in this, and one shouldn’t discount the role of the Chinese regime in hiding this until it spread globally.

Only saving grace is that this appears to be an accidental lab stick from a specimen, not a deliberate transfer of a weaponized version.

I still can’t believe that he was president, and for all 4 years. It’s like you woke up with a horse’s head in your bed.

Sure, I agree trump was a really big part of it. But, a whole lot of the problem is that We, The People, have ignored all the warning signs. Castor, you saw it back in January 2020. I saw it in February, and started protecting myself (limit travel, incredible infectious disease control (wash hands, limit public exposure, gatherings, keep outside and deep clean everything. And spread the word to others. I was (I admit) late to the mask use, as I bought into the idea that it was better that health professionals get all the access, and we coud do the majority of self-protection by physical distancing.

Some of us are influenced by, and comfortable with, medicine, science, and research. We respect medical research. We respect and know how to read critically. We are reasonably numerate, and can understand how to interpret data. But the vast majority of the adult citizens of this country don’t know and don’t care. They just get pissed off when bad things happen, and just demand someone else to “fix it.” That is how we got the one-term, twice impeached orange ignoramus running the circus for the past 4 years… And a whole lot of other willfully ignorant bad actors that emerged from the clown cars following him.

I guess my point here is, we need to demand more of others working in the field, and in power, yes. But, more than that, we need to get out of ourselves. Less whining and bitching, and snark, and more studying, learning, appreciation, action, support, and participation in making the changes that need to be made to make more of our fellow travelers in our communities whole.

Our igloos have natural, anti-viral properties.

They’re wearing masks, they’ve closed the borders and imposed strict quarantine rules, they’re arresting and fining visitors who violate the curfew laws, they’re communicating with the population what they can do to stay safe and SURPRISE! it’s working…
