Five Points On The Brewing Fight For Key Battlegrounds, And The Torrent Of Falsehoods Trump Will Unleash | Talking Points Memo

Americans will go to bed tonight not knowing who won the White House. The feeling might remind them of the Bush v. Gore fiasco. But we’re not there — yet. The path that was Vice President Joe Biden’s most likely avenue has not been foreclosed. And the fact that we have no real indication yet of the extent to which that path is in jeopardy for Biden is a reality that we’ve been warned since April might be coming.

Lets go back to a previous game, . . . .Madam Speaker, Impeach this criminal SOB . . . .again!

He’s doing what he ran for office in 2016 to do: destroy the country. He is Putin’s torpedo aimed at the midships of our “ship of state.”

With what the traitor just did, we are now in the greatest crisis in the history of the republic. Far worse than the civil war (which the South could never win if the North kept its nerve). If the corrupt Republican “just us” is allowed to do what the Federalist Society set it to do, the democratic constitutional republic is lost.

We are very close to civil war.

I haven’t read the whole article yet- cooking comfort food to get through the night. But damn! The orange menace is doing it again. Trying to will himself on us. NOT HAVING IT! Really, he is claiming victory and claiming criminality in the vote against him. He is the criminal. He thinks he is Julius Caesar.

Trump has just guaranteed that there will be violence should he lose the election.

Trump unbound is what the world is facing if he wins.

No matter what the end result eventually is I must say that Trump/Trumpism is a lot more popular than many people thought. If he wins America is totally fucked as a country, if Biden wins and the GOP retains control of the senate (which increasingly looks like it will happen) America is still fucked to a slightly lesser degree.

The all-pervading darkness that shall cover America from coast to coast is our very possible future as GOP minority rule in every facet of government is essentially set in stone should Trump prevail.

Sorry to sound so negative but America is in a precarious situation like never before… it is that potentially bad.

As I write this I’m hearing that the Trumpians hammered this Biden is a socialist theme with the Cuban Americans and it worked. The young Cubans have heard so damned much about Castro that it resonates.

ETA some professor on MSNBC says we must disambiguate the term “latino”. Hispanics are not some monolithic group.

There is this idea in Daoist thought that when dealing with uncomfortable situations or harsh realities instead of pushing back you should pull it towards you. That we are sitting here even discussing a close election with the likes of tRump is unfathomable. If Biden loses then America deserves to die. It’s that simple. I’m of the view that we shouldn’t any longer hamper that trajectory.

Well, some people were warned.

Win or lose for Biden, and win or lose for Dems in the Senate, things are really bad in America.

(1) Poling. Poling is in trouble, twice in a row. We were told consistently that Biden had a 90% chance of winning. He might win yet. But it is absurdly close. But this is relatively trivial…

(2) America. America is a very sick country. Record turnout, and yet Trump and Senate Republicans have (almost) enough backing from our fellow Americans to continue in office. The ignorance, the denial, the delusion, the indifference, and the immorality this implies in over 75 million of our fellow Americans is truly staggering. After 4 years of Trump, his Administration, and Senate Republicans, there is no excuse whatsoever for these >75 million people. The moral and spiritual rot in half the voting public is profound any way you look at it. This is the signal feature of the United States of America in the twenty-first century – that this is even possible in this country. It should not be possible. It would be impossible in a healthy country. Let’s hear no more “We are better than this.” Who is this “we”, Bullshit-Uplifter, whoever you are? Half the country most definitely is not better than this: this is who they are, and they are telling you loud and proud and repeatedly. Listen to them. Saying, stupidly, “We are better than this” is most definitely not listening to them. Listen to them to know what you are up against. It has been brewing for centuries, and it is ugly.

Just waking up. Wish I was surprised by anything thus far. At-this-point, my care-o-meter has broken:
If Trump wins reelection- four-more-years of a shit-fest. If Biden wins; four years of cleaning up domestic and global excrement from Trump & Co.

I really didn’t think we had so many Nazis here.

Oh, well, nobody got rich by betting that Americans are fundamentally good people.

It is 3:30 AM here - I could only sleep for about 4 hours.

I think what drives me the most crazy is that he told everyone he was going to do this for months and now he is doing it and all we have as a weapon is a strong condemnation. He has made the move of a complete despot and America is blinking rapidly.

Second most crazy is the fact that it looks like we will have the second worst scenario - a barely eked out ( and falsely questioned) victory by Biden with a Republican controlled Senate. Goodbye everything good from the Democratic agenda. Only thing possibly worse is an outright Trump win.

The thing driving me third most crazy is that the mother-fucking polls were fucking wrong - I would have been a lot better emotionally prepared for this if I had listened to crazy Michael Moore instead of the genius of Nate Silver.

The last thing, and the thing that will undoubtedly haunt me for the rest of my life (probably only 2 more presidential elections in me) is that this many of my fellow countrymen are either stupid, criminally misinformed, or outright racist. This is beyond disappointing - depending on how things roll out over the next few days, this may become irreparable. This is not a basket of deplorables - it is a cornucopia.

God help us - apparently we cannot help ourselves. We are still following the rules set up to appease slave masters over 2 centuries ago and find ourselves helpless against them

I’ve heard more than a few basic old white Trumpers interviewed on NPR saying they “didn’t want the country to turn socialistic.” Can’t help thinking right now maybe we’d have been better off with Bernie saying “Yes, I’m a democratic socialist, and here’s why that’s good news for you!”

Even if Biden wins the results of the House and Senate races show just how screwed up this country is. If McConnell retains control it’s going to be another 4 years of torture.
Some blue wave…

fortunately the governors of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are all Democrats. If that weren’t the case, we’d be fucked.

Polling said he had a national lead. It also said the election could be extremely close, given how the EC works. Right now, both of those look accurate.

We knew this 20 years ago.

So McConnell can acquit him… again.
