In my experience, if a DA thinks I broke the law, I already get indicted and go to court. There’s no reason the indicted arrested, booked and informed of the charges, Individual 1 should not get the same privilege of clearing his name in court.

I think the DA should have just gone with 34 slam dunk misdemeanor convictions, rather than overreaching on a wobbly felony charge. But that’s just me.
Bubba doesn’t give a hoot about compassion until he gets slammed in the pokey. It’s a natural reaction for people who just got jailed to suddenly start thinking about mercy and forgiveness. Unfortunately, the prosecutors’ compassion is reserved for the victims of the crimes.

Cohen was convicted on felony charges. The felony element comes in with the conspiracy to defraud. Demonstrating the fraud and conspiracy elements is even more of a slam-dunk than the tax evasion.
No friend of Trump, but at the heart of this is consensual sex between adults. All the rest is fluff to make it much more than it is (typically DA piling on the charges). Covering up a $130K payment for mutual privacy (or other matters) is not only SOP in business and the rich’s private affairs, but also chump change, and all for less than a day’s pay than some CEO’s. It’s like getting Al Capone for income tax evasion. It’s the possible charges ahead that might have substance. This is just the pile on going first.
It was $420k to cohen to cover a personal expense for TFG, which is a tax dodge on unreported income. You try telling the IRS that $420k of unreported income is small potatoes. Plus there’s the $150k effective illegal campaign contribution from AMI media. Six figure illegal campaign contributions make the legal authorities sit up and take notice. DoJ nailed former critter Fortenberry for just $30k in illegal donations.
DT is famous for not wanting to pay for ANYTHING, and the case isn’t about sex. It’s about illegal business practices to cover up the sex story. If he didn’t think that story would have hurt his election chances, he wouldn’t have ponied up a dime.
This was the President of the United States, man! He should be held accountable to the highest standards. Yet somehow one of Trump’s greatest tricks has been to convince so many that he should be held accountable only to the lowest. Someone else got away with something despicable? Well then gee, can’t charge the guy who was the freaking President of the United States for it! Sad.

God these Trump supporters, and Republicans in general are stupid. Donnie had two affairs before he ran for the Presidency. He paid said women to keep their yaps shut. before he won and was sworn in as POTUS.
All these charges against him is because he tried, and succeeded in keeping this on the down low. And when Cohen’s part was found out, well he was charged and found guilty. Cohen was on half of this partnership. Now it’s Donnie’s time in to be in the barrel. Should have ignored Cohen and just paid off these women with cash, much harder to follow a cash paper trail.
I think the circus-like scene would have been so much more drama-filled if Skanky came to the Manhattan court house with Wanky on one arm, the Escort on the other, with the children following obediently behind.

Getting Capone for tax evasion probably prevented a lot of murders, and if that was the only thing they could get him on because he was good at keeping his mob operation at arm’s length, so be it. By contrast, DT has done quite a bit of criming out in the open, and I fully expect indictments from some of his federal crimes. There is no reason for any prosecutor to second guess whether other prosecutors will bring charges or what order to line them up. When any prosecutor has the goods, it’s time to indict.
