There’s no one answer to when the COVID-19 vaccine will be available. Instead, there are fifty.

There’s no one answer to when the COVID-19 vaccine will be available. Instead, there are fifty.
During the 1976 Swine flu epidemic I was in high school. The vaccine was released with a few issues and became the butt of jokes on Saturday night live. We put our trust in the health and science professionals and most of us lined up and had it administered with few issues. Of course the media climate was different then with a crazy alternative narrative so you didn’t have the likes of a Walter Cronkite calling it a deep state hoax.
If only the states could form some sort of union.
To provide for their common needs, and promote their general welfare.
Maybe a federation of some sort.
Something like that.
I don’t know that the pending Biden administration is going to be able to help here.
In the meantime, in Wisconsin, this is happening today:
Parts of the bill include:
bar mandatory vaccinations against the virus, prevent local health officials from closing or restricting business activity for more than two weeks at a time and more.
“We can’t allow an unelected bureaucrat to rule over communities like a dictator picking and choosing what businesses should fail or forcing schools to be virtual,” he said. “For some who didn’t know it already, most people now acknowledge that government control over our lives doesn’t make us more prosperous. In fact, we have seen far too many of our friends and acquaintances, lose their livelihoods due to government reactions to the coronavirus.”
Evers’ proposal, which includes measures to cover vaccinations under the SeniorCare program for elderly individuals, extend unemployment insurance call center hours and allow the Legislature’s powerful budget committee to move money around to cover public health expenses, represents a collection of provisions he previously said lawmakers “have been able to find some agreement” on.
But Republican leaders have characterized the release of that bill as the governor bringing an end to negotiations, something Vos again referenced on the floor Monday when he accused Evers of walking “away from the negotiating table last month.”
Oh, and a little sidebar to this article:
This is the first time your legislature has deigned to meet since March, right? And this is what they’ve got to say for themselves? Ben Winkler has got his work cut out for him.
Yup - they’re blaming Evers for their inaction. How is putting up his side of the compromise possibly an indication that he walked away from the negotiation? And all of these nincompoops were re-elected in November.
The Slate What Next podcast out this morning has a great discussion with someone knowledgeable about what is going wrong with the roll out. Do not listen unless you have a high tolerance for depressing information.
Here in New Mexico my RN partner was vaccinated a week ago at her rural clinic. NM Dept of Health has established a web site to register for an appointment to get vaccinated, based on various health-status criteria examined in the registration process. I signed up this morning.
And in Pennsylvania, the President pro tem of the state senate is refusing to seat any Democratic Senators, and has illegally removed Lt. Governor Fetterman as president of the senate—which is a prescribed position in the state constitution.
GOP fuckery never stops.
So in our little back-ass state, we have an bureaucrat appointed by an elected governor (republican) who won’t let local school boards (who have duly-elected members) choose to go online since the thinking is schools have to be open for businesses to be open.
That shit cuts both ways.
Meanwhile, our numbers are skyrocketing since the guv is a “prisoner” of the business cartel.
We’re fucked.
And now, this:
ETA: So I think it’s clear to say that, with what’s happening in PA and now in the House, we may be witnessing a bloodless coup as the GOP removes what little power the Dems have. If they can successfully overturn a few States and control of the House, we may have a serious problem here.
Here’s a thread discussing the PA Senate hullaballoo.
.
Cathy McMorris Rogers is a lying GOP harridan.
And that’s the best that can be said about her.
But if she gets more people behind her. e.g., more of the 140 who want to decertify the EC, removing Nancy is removing an obstacle to the movement getting more traction.
It is true that Nancy allowed the infected party into the chamber. No one apparently denies this. It was a stupid move on Nancy’s part and unnecessary.
We are really at a cross-roads here and I’m not liking what I’m seeing.
There is no way that McMorris-Rogers can get a majority behind her stupid idea.
The “infected party” was cleared by the House physician to enter the chamber and vote.
She had quarantined for 6 of the 7 days recommended.
Pelosi did nothing wrong.
This is just more right-wing bullshit designed to cause trouble with the EC certification tomorrow.
So this is where we are - when do the fist fights start?
This is beyond unconscionable. I read the Twitter thread you posted in disbelief. Democracy is crumbling right in front of us.
No, it is not.
Some right-wing radicals are trying to fuck everything up, but they won’t succeed.
I wish I could be so confident about it, but my former colleague who is a 40-year-old white college educated woman in the Kenosha area just sent me this:
you have to have been following along all along to know there is more behind the scenes than what the mainstream media is showing [about the voter fraud]. So many testimonies that have been shown on tv, actual evidence of fraudulent ballots, ballots run multiple times, much much more. Half the country hasn’t awakened to this reality but it will be presented. It’s a much bigger story than winning an election. You’ll soon see. I witnessed myself during the recount in WI what a shit show our election process really is. We should be the gold standard and we are far from it. We’ll talk after this is all over
I can’t seem to get through to her that, without evidence in court, nothing matters. She insists it exists, just like most of these crazy people do, but can never quite produce it.
The same thing is going to happen tomorrow - Trump is already alleging issues in one of the voting districts. We’re gonna go through all of this again with numerous challenges.
Anecdotal evidence is not actual evidence.
Hell, I even reminded her that the few cases of fraud were perpetrated by Republicans and the continual recounts in some cases generated more votes for Biden. I’ve tried. Lord knows I’ve tried.
And I can’t afford to piss off this person - she’s my direct contact to the project I hope to return to in July.
