So you trust the GOP to play fair.
That’s not a good idea.

Yes, DF should stay. Your hope about respect from all other Senators is perhaps unjustified.
Schiff has earned his chance to run for the senate, made his bones if you will, but there won’t be a problem finding a progressive Democrat to fill Schiff’s seat in the House. If there are indications Porter wants to leave the House I haven’t heard them. As to the senate seat, Ben Savage is a name that keeps popping up. Also two names I’m not familiar with, both Dems.
Adam Schiff has impressed me as a guy who has more than initially meets the eye - some of his speeches have been phenomenally impactful, He seems smart shrewd and adept at adjusting to the situation . It is funny - when I see him I get a combination vibe of-
Mr Molesely from Downton Abbey … and John Lithgow
You mean like ‘you can’t run for the House and Senate at the same time’? She threw her name into the ring for DiFi’s seat early. If she’s running for Senate, she won’t be able to run for the House in the same election.
As you have bern repeatedly informed the Republicans have informed the Democrats that they will not allow any replacement for Feinstein to serve on the Judiciary.committee. Unfortunately, Senate procedure enables the Republicans to do this by using the filibuster
(Thanks Manchin and Sinema)
Without her there the Democrats do not control the Judiciary Committee. Why are you supporting McConnell’s fondest wish?
Yeah - he’s for real

Just a nasty troll here, as we have witnessed over the years.
Specter was a crook who while Phila DA ignored the criminal Police Chief Rizzo who later become Mayor.
Rizzo had one of his thugs shove me in 1967
GOP trolls maybe like bitterbetty would delight in wrecking the Senate Judiciary Committee.
That likely would occur if Feinstein vacates her Committee seat there.
She will surely be replaced by a Democrat, and the senate will be better for it.
You got off easy. My cousin told me they got handcuffed but put in the backseat without seatbelts. Then comes the speeding, sharp turns, the sudden stops-each one that would throw them into each other or into the metal screening that separated the front and back seat.
He told me they came out of that ride looking like they’d had the shit beat out of them, but the officers could honestly say they never laid a hand on them.
At the least we had an opportunity in '22 to pull her from important commitees that have slim margins at the start if the new congress.
That part is on leadership…
Schiff would make a Fine CIA director
The “were never gonna” is implicit.
Maybe if she dies they will be shamed into allowing it…
In the 70s the Phila police repeatedly rousted carfuls of Penn students and demanded that they dump their drugs from their cars and then they would not be searched and arrested.
Specter ignored police corruption. Was he paid off?
Baltimore killed an arrestee with this tactic, didn’t they?
Schiff also has a commanding lead in name Recognition yet polling is neck and neck. (Yes its early, but early polls usually weight to the known entity, so these results are at the least intetesting)
Just as the entire democratic establishment was backing Clinton in 2008, an inexperienced up and commer can outperform when capturing the imagination of the electorate
I’m happy with either, but I’m not sure anything really points to a Schiff blowout here .
I hadn’t heard that.
This would be an incredible waste.
Sen. Church tried to reform the CIA but…
He died of pancreatic cancer in 1984, My father, a CIA contact, said that he hoped Church died painful death.
The GOP drummed Church out of the Senate in 1980 in a national campaign.
(Wiki) " Church lost his bid for a fifth term to Symms by less than one percent of the vote. His defeat was blamed on the activities of the Anybody But Church Committee and the national media’s early announcement in Idaho of Republican presidential candidate Ronald Reagan’s overwhelming win. These predictions were broadcast before polls closed statewide, specifically in the Pacific Time Zone in the north. Many believed that this caused many Democrats in the more politically moderate Idaho Panhandle to not vote at all. As of 2021, Church is the last Democrat to represent Idaho in the U.S. Senate."
