Stepping away should be seen as honorable. Somehow, on both sides of the aisle, that is not seen often. I hate ageism, but there is the reality individual by individual things can slide off. A lot of the current democratic congress critters likely feel they are holding on to give the good fight. But that doesn’t work well when your mind begins tripping you up.
Certainly I am not saying age is a disqualifier. But it is the norm in the Senate. Fauci is not a Senator on a red-carpet ride making civil policy (except for medical ones) and making decisions whether our entire government acts or dithers.
Exactly. It is dangerous in a lot of ways, including that any of them are one mini-stroke away from us losing a seat. Having your entire bench averaging in the high 70s-80s puts you at high-risk all by itself.
So am I but then I’m not in the Senate.
And/or Biden. Joe could have some buttons to push colleague to colleague.
Hamlet spoiler alert. Everybody dies.
Yeah well I would argue that Fauci’s job is just about as important at the moment.
But I know he isn’t in the Senate - he is just an example of someone who is extremely capable at 80.
Maybe you should run for the Senate.
The people who coached him to say that phonetically could have had more fun:
“Soy un reptil que come bichos con mi lengua grande.”
Tough to win an argument about “Senate tradition” with a guy who was in the Senate for 36 years.
Who are they going to trot out there if the recall is successful? Darrell Issa?
The House needs to have more seats, then the large states would have more representation on that side. It’s been almost 100 years since that was adjusted.
Gotta wonder what’s going through their heads. Cripple the buster and Biden could have one of the most progressive admins since FDR.
Despite this change, speaking as a Californian, I’m open to her retiring.
It will be hard to hug Lady G since he is so often on his knees.
Oh please…retire already and while Newsom is governor and can appoint a Democrat!
Feinstein should have retired 10 years ago…she’s become a Republican stooge over the years.

The Chamber can hold 600-700 members. Make the number one for every 500,000 citizens, or at least one per state. Makes for easy math.
And then do something similar for the Senate. Say 2 minimum, with another Senator for every 4M people so we can end the disproportionate representation of the flyover states and break senate gridlock.
