Feds Slap Robert Menendez With Foreign Agent Charge - TPM – Talking Points Memo

Indeed. That’s why it’s so important that Schumer and the Dem machine both come around to where many other Dem Senators have already landed. Menendez needs to be denounced by the whole party, stripped of every post and privilege possible under law, and assured that he will receive no support for reelection and instead will be primaried.

The General Services Administration could have one of these delivered this afternoon.

Considering the current arc of their respective careers, it seems satisfyingly apropos.

Menendez, his wife Nadine Arslanian, and New Jersey businessman Wael Hana met with an Egyptian intelligence official in his Senate offices

If you look up the word hubris in the dictionary, there will be a picture of Menendez meeting with a foreign agent in his Senate office.

There seem to be some people who just can’t stop. They always need more. I don’t understand it either, but the evidence clearly shows that people like Trump or Menendez just can’t help it and they have to keep reaching for yet another handful, even after they’ve gotten so much. It’s the only way that they think they can fill the hollow part of themselves.

Menendez is done politically -

The only logical thing that that it would seem that Schumer is trying to do - is be a bit overly measured as the Senate leader
… maybe Schumer is over compensating for knee-jerk FUBARing of the Senator Al Franken situation.
… if so , proving two wrongs don’t right a FUBAR

… of course it is also possible that Schumer has already had the private conversation -
" … look Bob, don’t be an asshole - resign ASAP"
and Menendez 's response could have been
“… F-U Chuck, you can’t make me - go to hell”

Menendez may possibly recognize that this superceding filing is also a defacto eviction notice

Santos: I’ll ruin you. I’m gonna fuck you up!

I do remember way back when the gerrymandering had kevin as my assembly representative. That boy could stumble ahead through no skill of his own.

Exactly. Democrats need to draw a sharp contrast between themselves and Republicans: a party wholly consumed by and devoted to corruption.

Cutting Menendez loose is a comparatively painless opportunity to do that. But we would have an overriding duty to unseat and excommunicate him even if it were enormously painful – the only possible justification for delaying justice would be if the entire republic were threatened. Which it is not.

When Charles Koch said he wanted to build bridges with Democrats, he meant he wanted to rope them into the same corruption that he injected into the GOP in order to hijack their party. He said it because he knows that the TRUMP era ran roughshod over so much of the Constitutional order that the GOP’s credibility has been utterly destroyed. He needs a new ride to finish the work of neutering democracy, and in our de facto two-party system there’s only one other vehicle: us.

I guarantee it: if we tolerate Menendez, the next corrupt Dem will be a straight-up Koch agent who is just as much a kept sugar baby as Clarence Thomas or MTG.

The GOP lost the battle for its soul. The battle for the soul of the Democratic party is now the only thing standing between Organized Money and permanent hegemony. Menendez will serve as an example – but of what?

Sure would be nice if we had alla the corrupt folk outta government. And if the goober right wing extremists beholden to Matt Gaetz could get expelled from government entirely… including him. It will not be very entertaining when the government runs out of money again in about two weeks. The CR was only for 45 days. A rational House would have passed an annual budget before the August recess. You know, that time where all of the legislative branch takes 6 weeks vacation time and nothing can get done cuz reasons.

TPM was first to report last month that Menendez allegedly worked against April Corley, an American roller skater who had been maimed in an accidental strike by Egyptian forces while on vacation there. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) had placed a hold on $300 million in military aid to Cairo pending a resolution to Corley’s case.

Memo to Schumer, time for an ultimatum to Menendez - Resign or you will introduce a motion to expel him from the Senate.

If he fails to do the right thing, boot his a$$ to the curb asap.
