Feds Say Oath Keeper Planned Group’s Role In Capitol Breach | Talking Points Memo

I expect we’ll learn their travel and lodging costs were covered.

That still wouldn’t meet the definition of “corruptly.” Besides, we know these particular insurrectionists paid for their own lodging at the Comfort Inn.

I’m a felon in Alaska for growing pot more than 30 years ago. It’s a lifetime sentence, same category as assault with a deadly weapon or rape. Yeah, excessive but it is what it is. Anyway up here the law says felons can still own long rifles for hunting but no side arms and no assault style weapons. Gave up hunting years ago but even so I would not flash my hunting rifles around because it is still a federal law that felons cannot possess firearms and if the bastards want you for something they could use the possession of firearms charge against you even if it was a Remington bolt action 30-06.

Now up to 12 according to CNN.

On another complicit note, apparently members of Congress are seeking pardons for their roles in the insurrection.

If only Gina Haspel held the line on the torture tapes, honorably.

Nobody’s perfect.

And the only real objection to torturing terrorists is that it’s well-demonstrated to be ineffective at eliciting intelligence.

On board with that one.

Be careful, not to risk jeopardizing that exquisite sense of humor.

Obama had moved towards normalizing relations with Cuba in small increments but the dotard shut that shit back down. My new favorite coffee is a Costco product called Mayorca that I really believed to be a product of Cuba as the bag presents it. Reading the bag however informed me that it is just a roasting process kept alive by Cuban expats who had fled Castro for Nicaragua. Was so disappointed that even that delicious coffee was not from Cuba but from a roaster in Maryland.

So, they’re planning collective suicide?

Apparently that’s what Maria Bartimoro is claiming on Fox business today. Don’t have a link but I think it’s at Rawstory.

I would have thought that the insurrectionists’ motivation of overturning an election and installing a tyrant would suffice to prove corrupt intent.

There’s some further discussion of 1512(c)(2) in a 2017 “Primer” on obstruction of justice in relation to L’Affaire Russe.

FYI, Tx, I discovered you can escape the closing paren with a backslash to avoid having to put in dumb spaces in code section citations to avoid getting things like ©.

Any court? Not just courts in U.S. jurisdictions? Interesting, though I wonder if that’s how it is really construed.

Per the article you linked to “corruptly” for purposes of 1512( c ) means “‘acting with an improper purpose and to engage in conduct knowingly and dishonestly with the specific intent to subvert, impede or obstruct the proceeding,’ or acting with ‘consciousness of wrongdoing.’” I don’t see anything in these charging affidavits that really seems lie acting “dishonestly.” If anything, they were quite honest about their desire to overthrow the government.

They claimed they intended to save the country and “restore” the government.

Same thing.

So is it dishonest if you believe it?
