Perhaps he’s deliberately inciting Trump’s wrath so he will fire him. Still, appreciate the candor.

And, just look at that convivial group sitting in that room. Anyone amongst them a carrier?

OT: Weinstein gets 23 years. He will die in prison. Good.

I wonder what precautions jails and prisons are taking since it’s obviously an excellent place for the virus to spread. At the very least they should be limiting inmate to inmate and staff contact, and restricting visits to only behind glass barriers.

And yes, it will get a lot worse before it gets better.

Do not wish to be morbid, but this is very, very serious. Just watched a video by an epidemic disease expert. This dr literally wrote the book on it.

I wish he would have given a range of numbers" anywhere from 10 million to 200 million cases, depending mostly on the response now"

Hard to offer any probabilities since there’s a general lack of testing in the community.

In 2014, Donald Trump, Republicans and Fox News spent months howling about the Obama administration’s response to the Ebola outbreak. When all was said and done there were 11 U.S. cases and 2 deaths.

As of Tuesday evening (3/10), there were 975 U.S. cases of coronavirus infection and 30 deaths, including 270 new cases and 4 deaths just on Monday, plus 696 cases and 7 deaths on the quarantined cruise ship Diamond Princess.

If the Obama Administration’s response was a disgrace – as these same people claimed in 2014 – what does that make their efforts. Monday, alone, was more than 15 times worse than the entire Ebola scare.

Somebody on TPM a few days ago provided a link (seemed authentic) that indicated that every hospital bed in the US would be filled by May 8th. Wondering if that date is moving up yet?

These things multiply geometrically. One victim infects on average 2 or 3 and we’re contagious before we get symptoms. Seem like kids get it but don’t show symptoms.

"What you see now in an un-contained way, and although we are containing it in some respects, we keep getting people coming in from the country that are travel-related,” Fauci said. "

Spouting excuses to close the borders, no doubt on the instructions of Qtip.

Hold on, “Doctor”, don’t you even realize that everyone says that Trump is a genius? ALL the real doctors say they can’t even believe how quickly he grasps these complex issues and is responding PERFECTLY - why if he wasn’t here, the living would envy the dead. You probably should go back to the nail fungus clinic you used to run.

We’re looking at est 480,000 deaths in US alone. In Italy they’re having to do triage – who they can let die.

Fauci went on to cite the history of outbreaks, before arguing how community spread is worsened by people coming into the country.

“What you see now in an un-contained way, and although we are containing it in some respects, we keep getting people coming in from the country that are travel-related,” Fauci said. “We’ve seen that in many of the states that are now involved. And then when you get community spread, it makes the challenge much greater.”

And Trump hears this and says leave then sitting on a boat or a plane. Not take them off and quarantine them for 2 weeks.
Which by the way who is paying for their care while quarantined? Is Trump planning
on sending them a bill?
Why are we still seeing ads for cruising?
Why are 2 sets of passengers from the Grand Princess suing?
Gaetz and Meaddows need to pay for their own fucking tests.

I fully expect to get it, like most people. I’m still relatively young and healthy so I’m not that worried about its effect on me, but I’m in contact with older people so I have to be careful there. But, like everyone for practical and psychological reasons I can only avoid being around others so much.

So I guess Der Toadglans dessen Onkel unterrichtete bei MIT’s figures of “15 and soon it will be zero” were a little off.

Fun Fact: The 13 states (so far) that have declared states of emergency don’t qualify for federal assistance to contain the virus until POtuS declares a national state of emergency. I expect that will only happen when it starts affecting his businesses, i.e. when all the immigrants on H-2A and H-2B visas that run his properties are too sick to work.

ETA According to the White(s Only) House’s premiere epidemiologist everything will be fine with the coming of spring when “it tends to die out.”

What would those be? By my admittedly unschooled observations, it doesn’t seem contained at all. If it were, the slope of the rate of new cases would be declining.
