I don’t remember anyone threatening C. Everett Koop in the 80’s when he was, like Fauci the comforting explainer when it came to HIV. Sure there were incidents like Ryan White getting harassed by neighbors and the Florida kid getting booted from school for having HIV.

He was criticized for his anti abortion rights stance however no one threatened him over it. Ted Kennedy later regretted not voting for his appointment as surgeon general. The attacks on Koop came from the right, folks like Helms and crazy B-1 Bob Dornan.

Seriously, has anyone talked about this? Has the Orange Stain really recovered well enough to be doing all these rallies like he’s taking on? And how are his staff dealing with the actual medical situation and his effects on them? This isn’t all going on in some vacuum.

Doesn’t apply to child rape as far as I know. How about that 9 or 10 year old in Brazil who was impregnated by a stepfather and the Catholic Church decided she should go through childbirth even as her mother pleaded and pleaded for an exception to the rule – “it’s God’s will”? Or the 13-year-old who died giving birth to her father’s child? No mercy for the child who had no defense against an adult. Every year there are cases of rape of young children by family or friends or strangers.
(That’s why I put in the comment about tough luck you chose a bad family to be born into…)
