How is that a conflict of interest though? I agree that if it’s proven she was receiving kickbacks for her choice of prosecutor that would be wrong (I assume criminal as well), but how does it conflict with her interest in prosecuting these RICO crimes?
It allegedly conflicts with Mike Roman’s right to be prosecuted by a district attorney who doesn’t have a financial interest in the prosecution. It’s not a conflict within herself, but instead with the defendant who’s moving to disqualify because of it.
Somebody seems to have lost the plot.

IANAL, but I would assume that the case might be initially charged in the district where the crime was committed, but the venue can be moved if there is a conflict of some kind, the defense asks for a change of venue, etc.
The legal eagles I’ve been reading seem to think if Willis is DQ’d then it will be moved out of her office to another DA and district. Possibly one of the other two in the Atlanta suburbs, because those are the next largest offices and this is a huge case that can’t be handled by a podunk district.
Donating money to the family of the decedent is something you wouldn’t expect from Trump.

Every DA has a professional-financial interest in winning the cases they bring. Wasn’t this guy indicted by a Grand Jury? If the prosecution twisted or withheld evidence that would clearly be depriving him of his due process rights but that wasn’t claimed

Every prosecutor has a financial interest in getting paid for their work. The conflict arises when they also have a financial interest in the prosecution (or declination) of a particular case.

There’s nothing particular to the defendant here. If she were the defendant’s ex in a bitterly-fought divorce case, I could see her maybe being suspect of selective prosecution but that’s not the case at all. More the opposite. If anything she’d be helping the defendant if she hired a less competent prosecutor on the basis he offered her a good time on his dime

I’m really sorry about your car. That happened to me when my less than 9 month old SAAB got T-boned by a guy who was full of car insurance fraud. Since the car was almost new, there were no aftermarket parts available. I got an almost brand new car. And it cost him a shitload of moola!
