Pedigree. I hate Watters with the heat of 1000 suns.
ETA: Sorry, no new cat pix. I’ll show off Lavender Tabby again.
Wondering if they are throwing Smirnov under the bus to protect Weiss, Barr, and Rudy.
ETA: h/t to Dark Brandon on the title edit
Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, 47, has died in prison,
Now let’s be bluntly factual - Putin killed him - the cumulative effect of the near-death poisioning. … the detention in essentially torture conditions, the deprivation of proper care… ultimately killed the man.
So is Marcy Wheeler
It’s hard to say, but I get the feeling Willis will prevail here. The judge appeared to be siding with her, for the most part, yesterday and was growing clearly annoyed at some of the lines of questioning by the defense lawyers.
And all we have is a report from the prison authorities that he suddenly felt sick, lost consciousness and died. Only a few people know what actually happened, and if there’s any chance one of them might tell, accidents happen.
Who knows…it’s also possible he cracks and fingers others. The sentence can be 5 years or up to 8 years if the misstatement relates to an act of domestic or international terrorism. Not convinced the aggravation to 8 years would apply here, but 5 years in a federal prison is a pretty big dollop of misery all on its own.
Rat Bastards continuing with ratfuckery.
Have been reading her articles on all of this. really good reporting/investigating.
“He went for a walk in Siberia in February” is the new “He accidentally fell out of a sixth floor window.”
More to hate her for
Taylor Swift donates $100,000 to family of woman fatally shot at the Chiefs victory parade (nbcnews.com)
Around 1,300 people had made donations when Swift pushed the total beyond the $75,000 goal Friday morning, first making a donation of $50,000 and then making a second donation in the same amount eight minutes later.
Fani Willis earned her time on the witness stand. Her conduct was horribly ill-considered at best, and she deserves to answer for it. The story of paying him all back in cash is obvious nonsense. And I don’t care how righteous you think her anger was, it made her a terrible witness.
I’m not predicting her getting disqualified. But if she gets disqualified, it’s 100% on her.
ETA: It doesn’t matter that they were banging. It only matters that she steered $650k his way and then took his largesse. Take the sex out of it and that’s a straight-up kickback.
We all have our opinions here and you are welcome to yours. I disagree 100% and suspect you are not a woman
A window fell on him while he was drinking tea.
Thanks for not overlooking the racial, gender power issues pervasive throughout Fani and Wade’s testimony, or rather, the defense attorneys racial, gender innuendos asking questions that you pointed out, would never be asked of a white male DA behaving similarly.
I have always admired Black women in power positions, having risen from the bottom rung they were forced into. They are smart, touch, well spoken, and honest.
Accepting gifts over $25-50 from contractors that you hired will get you fired in most companies.
Russian prisons are a shithole disease factory. Multiple drug resistant tuberculosis strains run rampant (and frankly, endanger the rest of the world, because those clones leak out from the prisons). I’m certain there are some dandy Covid-19 strains there, too.
Our prisons are pretty much shitholes for medical conditions, too, but they look like Eden by comparison from a morbidity and mortality aspect.
We’ll never know what killed Navalny beyond, “Putin killed him.” The specific mechanism and whether it was incidental to the sentence or deliberate 9mm plumbism (or its equivalent) won’t be known.
I never would have guessed that the DA would be the first person put on televised trial in the Georgia Trump RICO case. Mind blown.
