It’s a free country. The Congressman does not have to stay in the Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party does not have to re-nominate him to his office. It’s simple, folks, there is a primary, New Jersey Democrats are free to nominate whoever they want. Pick a new candidate that shares your views. Incumbency is not really important for a freshman.
The Congressman can take his chances as a GOP candidate or an independent.

Meanwhile, the House dems actually got the “new” NAFTA deal done, and Trump was left out of it, of course.
That Trump was not personally involved in many of the trade negotiations also helped with the final deal, said two administration officials, including one who said the talks were most successful during the periods when Trump refrained from tweeting about the issue. Pelosi worked with U.S. Trade Representative Robert E. Lighthizer as the administration’s point person.
Democrats, by contrast, say the deal materialized because they extracted nearly every concession they wanted from the administration, including strong enforcement mechanisms. As Pelosi told her members during a closed-door meeting immediately before announcing the agreement, “We ate their lunch.”
Some Republicans, especially those committed to conservative trade policies, agree. “The only reason Pelosi moved on USMCA is because she took Lighthizer, flipped him upside down, and shook all the money out of him and destroyed him,” said one Republican leadership aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share a candid assessment.

Yes, and some Republicans are complaining the deal is too Democratic for their tastes.
McConnell doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to get right in it. Or Cornyn.
Could it be that Madame Speaker has set up a cat fight between Trump and Republicans?

Trump, of course, has no political principles at all. The only cause he has ever been committed to is his miserable self.
I cannot imagine why someone as supposedly astute as #moscowmitch would think that allying with such an unmoored, unprincipled narcissist is really in the long- or even medium-term interest of his own cause.
I guess if it’s the only card you’ve got to play, you play it for all it’s worth.

It’s my district and it’s a very interesting place. You note that Trump won the district by “only” 4 points. But the fact is Van Drew did win the Congressional seat, not by a huge margin, but he won. His competitor in the primary would not have won, I’m afraid.
Jeff (and I know him well enough to call him that; Democrats in Cape May County are a small community) should have kept his mouth shut about impeachment. He lost the district when he became Trump’s favorite Democrat. I’m not sure he’ll win the Republican nomination should he run, but he probably would have lost the Democratic primary.
He mostly voted for Democratic bills so he is better than a Republican. Actually he represents his district which is truly “southern” New Jersey.

Money and power can make people do some weird stuff.
I’m not sure what this is supposed to prove, other than this joker doesn’t want to end up like van drew with a primary challenge that he would lose if he voted against impeachment.
the problem is that nobody cares what Pelosi says afterwards. For this to be a victory for the Dems, it had to be a public issue before an agreement was reached, and Dems had to make their demands public… But instead of playing hardball with Trump, Pelosi decided to give him a big fat PR victory —because he’s the one who is going to get all the credit for a deal that the Dems are now claiming is good for America.
