If this guy wants to officially label himself as a betrayer of the public interest, I’m sure that there must be at least one decent person willing to try to take his place.
In the meantime, I remain disappointed and pissed that as far as I know, no Dem has pointed out what all Dems and other lovers of our country should. Voting to allow our quisling “president” to ignore Congressional subpoenas is a vote to give an American president almost as much unaccountability to Congress as the Russian president has vis-a-vis the Russian Duma.

My guess would be they panicked after the 2016 election and decided they needed to “meet in the middle”. Given the constant shift of the Overton Window to the Right, you end up with NRA supporting weirdos if you don’t “Hold Fast”.

Incidentally, this guy has frequently voted with trumpanzees on other issues as well. For example, he also voted not to hold Commerce Secretary Ross and Attorney-Turncoat Barr in contempt for lying about the Census.
I just found that ProPublica has a site that allows you to compare the voting records of different members of Congress. Playing with it is illuminating.

My take on this:
Mr. Van Drew, instead of representing the voters of his district in Washington decides to oppose impeachment. His support among Democrats collapses and polling shows him that, if he continues to ignore the wishes of the voters, that things will get even worse.
Convinced of his own ‘superiority’, he refuses to change course. Instead, he chooses petty revenge - “I’m too good for you! I’m quitting you! I’ll show you! I’m now a trumplican!
If Mr Van Drew thinks he’ll be the GOP nominee for his current seat - he’s a fool.

NJ may be the most D state in the country at the moment- so this schlub switching parties could seem significant, except Drew is kind of a zero who barely got carried to victory in a wave election.
The only interesting question is did he drop his panties because of Trump’s star power, or was he at least smart enough to get a huge payoff upfront?
