Eyes On Pelosi For Impeachment Next Steps | Talking Points Memo

As the House returns to Washington Tuesday, a question lingers over the Capitol: when will Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) send the impeachment articles over to the Senate?

Speaker Pelosi is literally the only thing standing between this country and utter catastrophe.

Start another impeachment and subpoena Bolton.
Or reopen the first one—there’s plenty of new evidence that needs to be presented. Hopefully they are processing records from Parnas now.

Madam Speaker is more than able to beat the boys at hardball.

How about if Speaker Pelosi hangs on to the articles of Impeachment untill the cows come home? That way Trump will go down in the History books with two asterisks: 1) for being only one of three Presidents ever to be Impeached and 2) for having never been acquitted ! That’s the kind of trivia High School history texts just love. And so his dubious place in history is cemented.

She’ll send them over when Mitch stops being a brat. So don’t hold your breath

Moscow Mitch will not give up the power he has to ruin our country unless Putin orders him to throw Trump under the bus.

I would love if she reopened the inquiry, subpoena Bolton, revote, and send them over. He would be deposed first behind closed doors and then testify publicly. They could vote the day after his testimony and be done with it.

Maybe it will take another leak or two to force Susan Collins to express a tiny bit of concern about the mass of concerning developments versus the unsavoriness of McConnell’s gamesmanship. Maybe Bolton can tease us with another preview of his book.

When referencing the procedural items on witnesses “like the Clinton impeachment trial”, it would be helpful if TPM would point out that Starr’s special prosecutor’s report was out with detailed depositions from numerous witnesses who were not blocked from testifying by a crazy “absolute immunity” claim. The current situation is nothing like that as witnesses with direct knowledge of what happened are being blocked / refusing to testify.

By not pointing out that important distinction, TPM is allowing McConnell’s position to seem reasonable, which it’s not.

Can’t you just hear the news foofs in D.C. screaming, She’s still holding the Sacred Articles hostage and forcing me to go out and do some real reporting. Oh god, help us.?

Well, he has little else to do until his book tour begins.

I think Bolton specifically stated he would testify before the Senate if he was subpoenaed. That leaves him an out if the House subpoenas him. He knows the Senate has no intention of doing their duty, so he will not be asked to testify. Yet the “lamestream” media took the bait yesterday by reporting Bolton’s offer without explaining the fine print. For Bolton, this is all about book sales.

She will send those articles when she’s damned good and ready and not a second sooner.

She’s got him by the short hairs and she ain’t lettin’ up.

“So-called moderate Republicans that Democrats were hoping to pick off, like Sens. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)…”

“So-called” is right. “Moderate” is a stupid weasel word when applied to any Republican (“moderate Nazi”, anyone?), or even a Democrat – presumably a moderate Democrat is like someone who pretends Nazis are people you can work with. (Please excuse the Goodwin’ls Law example, but it helps to clarify.)

I hope she holds onto those articles of impeachment. I want to see the raging idiot give his state of the union speech under the cloud of impeachment.

Bolton’s has a book problem. Because he was the NSA the book must be reviewed by the NSC/CIA etc. They can censor anything they “determine” as sensitive. No sweet details, no sweet profits.

I am sure it will be a doozie,

Meanwhile, a public feud between Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) broke out

It is not a “feud”. This is bothsidesery. One of these gentlemen, McConnell, is operating under a strategy of extreme bad faith. The other, Schumer, is merely insisting that the Senate perfom its duties according to the constitution, that evidence and witnesses be heard and that Senators abide by their oaths as “jurists”.
