As far back as October 2018, a former U.S. attorney acting on behalf of Ukrainian interests tried to get federal law enforcement to bite on bogus political dirt about the Bidens and on whether Paul Manafort’s notorious Black Ledger was a forgery.

Speaking over the phone Sunday morning, Cummins expressed to TPM a mixture of dismay that Berman broke off contact and mild embarrassment at having dealt with Ukrainians whose motivations he admitted he did not understand. Cummins added that when he sent the email to Berman he “wasn’t advocating for the legitimacy of any of this.”
Kudos to Berman for recognizing an obvious scam, and shame on a former US attorney for behaving so unethically and recklessly. Needless to say, he was up to his neck in this conspiracy, but did not disclose his involvement to Berman.

Cummins likened the request to being approached by a woman who had had her purse stolen in Central Park, and then taking her to a police officer. “I was trying to report a crime,” he said.

You’d think with all these people looking for dirt on Biden, including Barr, Giuliani, Nunes, and the rest, with the power of much of the federal government behind them … they’d have come up with something.

When I saw that Berman ignored it, I figured it’s because he was already familiar with the discredited narrative and wasn’t going to give it the time of day.
How is it possible to untangle scrambled eggs?
At a minimum, this means, in descending order of certainty:
(a) the conspiracy to fake Biden dirt was earlier and extends further than widely realized;
(b) in all likelihood Mueller found this and farmed-out the investigation;

There’s no reliable way to check the legitimacy or conflicts of interest of Ukrainian witnesses, except through the US IC – and they’re under investigation as alleged co-conspirators with the Hillary campaign for framing Drumpf.
Berman, then, made the right call: this is just a shit show of unreliable and compromised ‘evidence’ which has the capacity to do nothing but further the vindictive and political interest of Ukrainian individuals and factions, their masters and their allies in this country.
That’s what intrigues me. This all sounds like a lawyered-up story he can tell and not have the hammer come down too hard. You can’t tell bogus stories to federal authorities, watch the whole thing crumble, and not want to tidy up a bit. Not if you were once a federal prosecutor yourself.
I don’t know that what he was threatening was actually about Biden, and tend to doubt it.
In any case, this should be all that’s needed to subpoena and, at least, depose him.
