Former Pence chief counsel Greg Jacob is reportedly scheduled to testify during the Jan. 6 Select Committee’s public hearing on June 16, next Thursday, regarding his involvement in pushing back against then-President Trump and his allies’ election-theft pressure campaign, according to Politico.
Testimony is coming from inside the (White) House? Fox might want to cover a little bit of the hearings, after all, if it won’t be Cheney and Kinzinger as the only GOP people present…
“According to CNN, Jacob and Short did not discuss their conversations with Trump because the former president’s legal team advised them not to reveal presidential conversations, which Trump’s lawyers believed should be covered under executive privilege.”
Does the “crime fraud exception to attorney client privilege” apply to “executive privilege”?

I’m neither an attorney nor a Constitutional scholar, but I find it hard to believe that refusing to testify about a crime you witnessed someone commit – president or not – would, in any way, be justified by an “executive privilege” claim.

O/T Uvalde
Just saw a piece on NBC News about the hearing where Uvalde residents gave testimony to what happened. A pediatrician from Uvalde testified that two of the child victims were decapitated by bullets. The next screen shot was Jim Jordan saying that no matter how bad the shooting was we can’t take people’s guns, or limit people’s access to guns.
This right here is an ad that can be used against all Republicans. “People have a right to guns, but children have no right to keep their head attached to their body.”
Doctor who treated Uvalde victims recalls "two children whose bodies had been pulverized by bullets fired at them, decapitated, whose flesh had been [so] ripped apart, that the only clue as to their identities was the blood-spattered cartoon clothes still clinging to them." pic.twitter.com/Bx1t3yPvHb
I believe that I am coming to that conclusion.
All these staunch 2A defenders need to be made to defend decapitating children as a constitutional right.
While obviously not part of the current House debate, Cornyn made a point of raising the systemic “failure” of mental health resources in the U.S. once again from the Senate floor a few hours ago:
Maybe Cornyn should talk to Gov. Abbott about that. After all, not only has Texas repeatedly rejected the additional funding for Medicaid that would provide for more mental health coverage, Abbott diverted $211 million from the Department of Health and Human Services and redirected it to border security, and this despite the fact the state has a[record surplus, in part from federal funding allocated by the American Rescue Plan Act. Guess it worked, the latest shooter was a citizen!
I’m sure that someone has done a study of when the NRA stopped focusing on gun education and safety, and became a full time lobbying group versus the rate of gun deaths in the US.
And if I’m remembering correctly the biggest recipients of NRA campaign donations correlates directly with how big of an asshole the member of Congress is.
