Ex-Bigwigs In Military, Nat Sec World Implore Congress To Press On With Jan. 6 Commission

Former senior national security officials, members of the military and elected officials called in a new letter for Congress to establish a January 6 commission, driven primarily by their collective fear of the “exigent and growing threat” of domestic terrorism in the United States.

The officials encouraged legislative or executive branch action, as well as that of law enforcement, in tandem with the commission.

That’s not exactly what the headline suggests:

I’d actually implore AG Garland to press on with a Jan. 6 Special Prosecutor.

GOPers want the probe to focus on the security failures on January 6 alone

Just like you’d do with accomplices to a bank heist - ask them what to focus the investigation on and then be surprised when they wanted to focus on security lapses and how the team got away with it.

Why on earth is this even a question?

I’d be happier if Garland did it. Cut the republicans out of the process and send all those fuckers to jail.

We either act now or fail to be surprised when a better planned insurrection happens again.

IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, unless the last bunch of seditionists and their insider facilitators is taken to the mat and jailed.

Just launch investigations via the House and Senate Homeland Security committees. Do it now.

Good luck…we have elderly hanging on to leadership positions when they should be with the grand kids enjoying their retirement. Pelosi, Schumer, and Perez are a hapless bunch and they keep hanging on. We have a failure of LEADERSHIP!

Heck, 80 year old Pelosi needs to retire now while we still have a Democratic Governor in California. Same for Diane Feinstein…who could help the party by retiring and naming Katy Porter as her preferred replacement!

…take it from me, I’m 66 and now in the “elderly” category! I can’t go grocery shopping without a list or I forget 1/2 of what I needed. It is absurd to have an 80 year old in such a demanding leadership position…totally absurd!

GOP are looking to stall until they take back Congress and will then turn it into a witch hunt against Pelosi.

Screw the Special Commission route. The rethugs will guarantee the findings are whitewash.

No commission. No problem! Special Prosecutor is a better response anyway. Less flashy than hearings on the hill, but subpoena power and a budget to get to the bottom of not only the how, but the why.

The attack on Pearl Harbor was investigated at least 9 times. That does not include the numerous books by military historians and nut jobs who despised FDR.

If any event in our history needs a Blue Ribbon investigation it’s this outrageous attack on Jan 6. The goopers are stalling it because they know their criminal complicity will be exposed.

It’s next to impossible to find Republicans of integrity these days, but a good place to start is by weeding out anyone who can’t admit in clear terms that Biden is President, the election was legitimate and fraud-free, and that Antifa had nothing to do with the insurrection.

And if the Republican base isn’t happy with the selections, who cares? The object of any investigation must be to find the truth, no matter where it may lie or whom it may implicate. From there, we can find solutions.

The headline really bugs me. It should be something like “Military, Nat Sec Expers Implore…”

Congress should not fail to investigate this grave attack on our democracy just because GOPers will shriek and preen. Have a plan for smacking them down when they get in the way of the investigation and ensure that is part of the narrative – we are trying to get to the bottom of a violent coup attempt and for some strange reason, Republicans don’t want us to find the truth.

[“Some high-profile names who signed the letter include former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD), former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch.”]

And here is the collision between the political/governmental worlds of using “politics as entertainment” and “politics as a vehicle for policy, well-being and necessary services”. The bracketed individuals represent the latter.

There are sizable numbers of individuals whose interests in “government” reside in the same emotional worlds as the various forms of entertainment “pitting enemies against each other”.

Screw the bipartisanship. This needs to be done. With or without the Republicans, it will document more of what happened and the why’s, and it will ferret out more insurrectionists, MAGAts and their most influential instigators. Traitors, one and all.
