Espionage Act Charges Very Much In Play For Trump

You know that the speaker can call a special session anytime he wants? Less willful moping please.

Well, you can’t go filling up the jail with respectable seditionists. You need that room for minor drug offenders.

I’ve got a Grant or maybe a Franklin to toss in the kitty. If we all were to pitch in a little it would cover the fine for her and tell her that there are people out here who are trying to have her back. We may not all live in IN, but this OH resident is grateful that she was there and able to help the girl in her need.

To the extent that the girl’s privacy and right to confidentiality were violated, they were violated by the GQP’s insistence that this was a factitious incident. The media then did a deep dive and found the girl. Dr. Bernard had nothing to do with it beyond the initial reporting which was appeared to be sufficiently anonymized.

Twitter now the Putin worshiper

🚨ABSOLUTE MUST WATCH🚨

Putin delivers speech on the destruction of Western society and it will blow you away!

I have lost loads of 'friends' because of my love of Putin! He's brilliant, an original white hat for sure, part of the alliance 🙏

That would be something, wouldn’t it? If one of our human assets on the ground returned a document that could only have come from him? Still, 70M morons would insist that it’s a deep state fake.

Ken is Texas’ scoundrel
Fits the caricature folks have of Texans. Now I know most are not like Ken but some are.

It would truly be the circle of life or a more appropriate circle of hell for Trump to be prosecuted under the espionage act since it was none other than his own council Roy Cohn who prosecuted the Rosenbergs and were convicted of, yup espionage.

So far we’ve had a 25% and 30% downward departure from sentencing guidelines. Anyone wanna bet on 40%?

Is that supposed to make a difference? Unrestrained power and fear are a toxic mix. Historically, the overseers on plantations were often the most abusive, because they got special perks for keeping the other slaves in line and they were black themselves. So, try to avoid tired, simplistic reactions to complex circumstances.

Depending upon how critical / vital / sensitive…

Hugely hideously critical for huge $$$ - would not be surprising (pure self centered psychopathic opportunist - of course he would sell out the US at the right price)

shall he be treated like the Rosenberg? - would be Hugely surprising -

I’ve been working on paring back the conservative v. liberal construct in describing the Supreme Court. “Conservative jurisprudence,” as existed as recently as 20 years ago, arguably had an internal logic and consistency to it. It could be applied – though it wasn’t always, of course – in a consistent and even-handed way that defied particular outcomes. There was a discipline to it, at least in theory. It possessed some intellectual rigor that was worth grappling with even if you were a progressive. There is very little that remains “conservative” about the current Supreme Court majority or what we think of as the Federalist Society’s conservative legal movement. It’s right-wing radicalism that is more outcome-based than they ever accused liberals of being.

That’s why I’ve taken to using the terms Fed Soc legal theory vs Rule of Law legal theory. Fed Soc law permits alternative facts and alternative law as evidence, at the justice’s discretion, and alternative history and alternative logic as a basis for rulings. In other words just makin’ stuff up. And general disregard for precedent, if that’s what it takes.

The only thing I enjoy about Roy Cohn is that he died alone and in total misery, having spent a lifetime as a cruel self-loathing asshole. Maybe there is an afterlife, and for punishment you get to come back as someone so evil and toxic that you can’t even stand yourself. Sweet justice.
