Defense Secretary Mark Esper responded to President Trump’s remark earlier Wednesday that he’s preparing to deploy two Navy hospital ships to treat patients seeking treatments for ailments not related to the coronavirus during an interview on CNN.
Trump was briefed in January folks. All the planning should’ve commenced while Wuhan was locked down. Tests, supplies -vents, masks etc- would have been stockpiled and ready to go. Field hospitals and these hospital ships would’ve been ready to go. I will never forgive this administration for the pain and suffering being caused due to ego, politics and effing ignorance.
If it’s in Norfolk, that’s near me, I should do some spying.
My niece and nephew are in the Navy and from what I’ve seen since being around the family again in the last bunch of months, the Navy can’t predict what they’re doing, when they’ll start and how long it will last. Sorry military fans.
Another BAD FAITH attempt for the Trump Regime to appear to do something about Covid-19? How many more will die before the Comfort Ship can reach the intended destination?
In addition, RethugniCON Sen Johnson is telling people:
“I’m not denying what a nasty disease COVID-19 can be, and how it’s obviously devastating to somewhere between 1 and 3.4 percent of the population,” he said.
USA population 330,446,477 as of Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
At 1% of the USA population is 3,304,464 Americans that he is OK of putting at risk because it is bad to shut down the economy!
What level of callousness and cruelty is that?
Update:
First member of Congress to get Covid-19 = Florida Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart = RethugniCON. Despite being a loathsome R, get well soon!
Patients with broken bones, head injuries or lacerations don’t consume days in the ICU, so offloading them onto a ship won’t free up ICU beds/staff for COVID-19 cases.
Tombstone Covid-19 to the world… you tell 'em I’m coming , and hell’s coming with me, you hear?
Another right-wing moron by the name of Bolsonaro:
“We should take steps, the virus could turn into a fairly serious issue. But the economy has to function because we can’t have a wave of unemployment,” he added.
Hours before, Bolsonaro appeared to shrug off advice from his medical team to self-isolate after several members of his delegation to Florida tested positive for the virus. He instead joined a rally of supporters at a pro-government demonstration, shaking hands, bumping fists and slapping the backs of marchers who turned out to show their support for him amid a political spat with Congress.
Oh for fuck’s sake. We can’t have unemployment, so we’ll stick our finger in our ears and shout “La la la la la” and the virus will magically not affect any significant number of people in the country. What a plan!
This whole situation is scary as hell, and I get that it takes time for people to process the idea that there isn’t an obvious and simple way to make things the way they were three months ago, but pretending it isn’t happening causes more harm, not less.
