Sometimes you are just not hip enough for that young crowd. Maybe a groovy image change would have made him less square.

Still funny. Maybe I only laugh at the obvious - that may be on me. hahahahahahaha
This move is to Swalwell’s credit. It shows he’s not a slave to his own vanity.
If this were the 1950s, he probably could have beat Eisenhower putting “All’s well with Swalwell” against “I Like Ike.”
Lots of stupid people on Everest these days, wholly unprepared. The sherpas can get you up there even if you have no clue.
Be Prepared.
Usually they’re doing it to raise name recognition. Even a small run could be good for a Congressman, for example, looking to make the leap to the Senate, helps gain them statewide exposure.
Plus (and the cynic in me likes this one), there’s a lot more money even in the minor leagues of the Presidential race. I can’t find a report for him on the second quarter, but it’s likely that he’s leaving this campaign with his coffers at least a couple million heavier.
Not too surprising. His debate spiel was “It’s time to pass the torch. Vote for me — I’m young and have debts to pay off and I can relate, man.”
Slightly exaggerated, of course. Now get off my lawn and make sure you don’t throw the paper into the rose bush again.
I think he has been one of the best TV appearance Dems and is harsh and unswerving on Chump. I love him. I don’t think I wanted him to run for president. I also don’t like hammering on people because they are white or male.
Some times they can even bring your body back down.
White males are likely responsible for most of the world’s wars, misery and deaths. I say hammer away.
Hitler, Stalin, Hank Williams Jr. to name a few.
No they don’t - they leave those up there for the most part That mountain is covered with trash, shit and bodies.
No wonder she keeps trying to tell people to leave her alone.
He seems to be a really good Congressman and I think he has a future as a leader in the party. Dropping out now may help preserve his future. Plus, I presume this means he can get to work being re-elected, which many of the other candidates don’t need to worry about.
Totally agree. I like Swalwell too - a lot. He’s good where he is. I want to see him re-elected and this was smart.
Thank you, Eric. Maybe someday. Not now. Hope you can convince some of the other also rans.
Read Jon Krakauer’s book, “Into Thin Air” to get a glimpse into the world of Everest. And, it’s true, lots of people with little climbing experience pay a lot of money to get hauled up and down the mountain. Some make it, some don’t and lots of bodies along with trash get left.
I’ve always had a fascination with climbs, but zero interest in doing it, give me a trail with trees and flowers any day.
Like anyone is going to even notice.
They don’t fear Bernie anymore, they prefer he stay in and dilute the votes of leftward leaning primary voters.
If anything they will make sure he’s included
Swalwell actually had a viable game plan – he hoped to jump start his campaign by going after Biden directly with his “pass the torch” comment. The idea being that it would draw enough attention and support from the “anyone but Biden” types to raise his profile and poll numbers enough to be taken seriously.
Unfortunately for him, Kamala Harris was there on the same night, and that was the only real story the day after the debate.
But it wasn’t a bad strategy – considering the fact that there are at least 10 candidates who completely failed to distinguish themselves at all, the fact that we know what Swalwell did is impressive.
(This is probably the only time I’ll ever compliment Eric Swalwell)
Trash and mounds of human shit.
Just covered with shit. I wish they’d close it.
