Good for you!
Williamson, random old white dudes in suits that nobody remembers, this is your cue as well.

Thank you Mr. Swalwell. I hope others in your position can be reflective enough to learn from your example.

Statistically, his chances at the nomination are unchanged.

Good for him. Although I don’t like his performance in debate, it really takes some courage to drop out, and for that I now have some respect for him.

Bye.
Besides, @castor_troy really dislikes all the white guys that look alike.

That’s because they all look like Nick Cage.

Hey, I literally couldn’t even keep track of them the first night. The second night the broadcasters at least put nametags up on screen each time they spoke.
And I’m an old white guy, so I can take that stance!

Meh, don’t. Note that he’s dropping out to run for re-election… He saw the tea-leaves, that he’s going nowhere, so better to keep his job than to lose out entirely.

I had just met Swalwell last week and spoke to one of his aides a bit. He thought that people would start to drop out with the cut offs but that he would make the cut. He didn’t make the cut so he dropped out. He did want to leave with some lasting themes: orange ribbon (gun control) and pass the torch. He was pretty happy that he got that out of the debate.
With Steyer now looking to get in the race, look for a more direct attack on the Democratic leadership to change the orientation of the party towards wielding power. It will be a push against them and the older candidates, Biden and Bernie.
Swalwell is a guy who keeps things close to the vest and has different messages for different audiences. He was for Medi buy in at the gathering I was at. On the trail, I’ve heard him talk medicare for all. He’s one of the best messengers on the Russia/Mueller, but he didn’t mention it until I went up to him and thanked him for his support of impeachment.
He spoke favorably of Pelosi and emphasizing health care for the campaign. Yet, he clearly opposes her view on impeachment. He is somewhat of a combo of a strategist and agenda setter. I feel like he knows more and feels more than he lets on.

Yes, I remember that first night, thus my comment. It was/is hard to tell lots of them apart.

Swalwell now has more time and energy to focus on actually moving to Impeach Trump.

When does the requirements for debates increase? After the July debate? I’m guessing that’s when we’ll get a large drop in nominees.
It sucks being the first to drop but, i’m glad he made the decision…or maybe he never really expected/wanted to win, he just wanted to get his message (gun control) out there. Oddly enough i don’t even remember him on Gun Control (from the debates).
