Eric Swalwell Reportedly Drops Out Of 2020 Race

It’s a clusterfuck at this point. About 18 others need to drop very soon.

He is a young man…about the age of some of the last cohorts of students I taught. He has a lot of people to directly inspire.

Just old guys won’t cut it for 2020.

Absolutely.

Here’s hoping he’s the first of several.

Well, this does free him up for more appearances on Tweety, Hayes, Maddow, O’Donnell, Cooper, Cuomo, and Lemon’s shows…

I am proud to say I got 17 out of 20 on an identify-the-candidates quiz before the debates.

And thanks to her MEMORABLE performance and Kate McKinnon’s hilarious impression of her, now I can also identify Marianne Williamson.

It;s Swalwell that ends well.

What TPM badge does that qualify you for?

It’s all about comparison. Some others know they have little chance but still won’t drop out, thinking that it’s a good trait to never quit (POLITICO has an article about Hickenlooper saying that).

Sigh.

Damn. I think even after the debates I’d struggle to get past 10.

yes. The same criteria for inclusion will be used for the CNN debates at the end of this month. But the DNC has announced that the criteria will be tightened for September – without actually saying what the criteria will be.

(best guess – they’ll find a way to exclude Bernie, just for the hell of it) j/k

I like Eric Swallwell, but each time I’d see him on TV after he declared he was a candidate, I’d ask myself, “Why is he running for president?” He’s doing a good job in the House, and he needs to keep doing his job.

I believe that qualifies me for both the “Spends too much time online” badge and the “Listens to too many podcasts” badge.

He is a nice young man with a bright future, just not yet.

I’m not sure what we’re supposed to think of people that announce a run for President only to drop out a few weeks later. You’d think that there is some sort of network of people that would advise a person of their prospects.

I might like the idea of climbing Mt. Everest, and saying I did it would be nice. But before I babbled to friends I was going to do it I’d have a few experienced people, doctors, climbers, personal trainers, assess my prospects. If the consensus was I wasn’t up to the task I’d be pretty stupid to announce to the world I was doing it anyway.

I dunno, everybody seems to have climbed Mt. Everest this year, too.

I thought it was pretty obvious.

…I’d be pretty stupid to announce to the world I was doing it anyway.

And we all know you’ve never done any stupid shit, steviedee111.
