Engel: Pompeo Hasn’t Been Cooperating With Impeachment Inquiry

House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Eliot Engel (D-NY) said on Sunday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo hasn’t been cooperating with House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.

Pompeo is just resting up after putting the squeeze on Luxembourg. That and threatening State department employees with the Khashoggi treatment are sucking up all of his waking hours.

“We will do what is required by law, except anything that will help your investigation” sounds more like what you’d expect Pompeo’s letter to say. They really are playing with fire here, ignoring Congressional subpoenas looks a lot worse for them as some State employees come out and testify, every bit of new information has been damaging to Trump and makes Pompeo and State look bad for enabling illegal behavior. That kind of thing won’t go over well with the public, sentiment has changed because of the appearance of a cover up, and this just makes it look more and more like they are hiding things. Guilty people do cover ups, and, as is historically the case, the cover up is what is bringing Trump and his minions down now.

Pompeo is the worst SoS in US history—and the most corrupt.

“We’re hoping that he will comply.”

If my Dad were alive, he’d go straight to “A lot of people in hell would like ice water, but they ain’t gonna get it.”

Nixon’s people did a lot of stonewalling too. And behind stone walls is where a lot of them ended up.

Moscow Mitch is soliciting donations payoffs to fix impeachment in his Senate. Only thing the public can do is GET OUT AND VOTE IN 2020.

Because the GOP, with few exceptions, won’t do a damn thing to stop tRUMP from shooting people on main streets all over America.

This is the miscreant I want to see go down hard. Possibly more than I want to see Trump and Barr, disheveled and unphotogenic, in a mug shot. Pompeo is a thug, pure and simple a fat, arrogant thug whose nose I’d like to see flattened as it is impacted by a massive fist. F=MA!

Have the Sargeant at Arms arrest and hold him until he cooperates.

They’ve also seen the movie so they know what they’re supposed to think.

Pompeo wrote a defiant letter to the House … telling them that he would not allow State Department employees to testify in the impeachment inquiry.

So, SoS Pompeo is saying that employees don’t have to describe the job they’ve been doing to their employer. It sounds like he wants to go down with his captain’s ship.

I’ve seen a lot of conflicting information about these sorts of powers. AFAIK if people simply refuse to cooperate you can hold them in a fairly toothless form of contempt. The idea that some Congressional officer can arrest them and put them in Congress jail down by the broom closet somewhere in the basement seems to be fairly obscure legal theory and not a thing they can just up and do. Someone with actual knowledge is welcome to correct me on that.

There are 4 people I would like to see punished over this mess, Trump, Giuliani, Barr and Pompeo. Aside from Trump Pompeo is the guy I would really like to see imprisoned. He went out of his way to make Hillary’s life hell citing rules he now flatly refuses to acknowledge. Like many evangelicals he is a hypocrite of the first order.

Oh I have a much much bigger list.

And McConnell. By all means let’s include the Enabler in Chief in the fun.

Barr I would like to see stripped nekkid, tarred and feathered and put in stocks at the end of the Mall.

An originalist should get an 18th century punishment.

I guess by having learned that Fox News Conspiracy Theories don’t work too well in court, they’re going to try out the Breitbart Comments Section approach.
