But “little chidren” or “college wrestlers” wouldn’t cause a stir?
Things that make you go hmmm… Isn’t that special.
How does it feel about drag queens?
Asking for a friend.
That whole Covenant Eyes app sounds very creepy to being with. And yeah, if these folks are not taking security issues seriously that’s definitely worrisome. Of course, they learned that last part from the orange guy…
How rich are The Rich? This rich:
So, private parties now don’t have standing to sue in defense of their own rights?
The entire federal judiciary needs to go. It has been so corrupted, either through a perverted ideology or cowardice, that it is an immanent danger to the country.
Congress does have the Article I power to reorganize the judiciary. Should Democrats ever get control of both houses of Congress and the White House, reorganizing the current judicial incumbents out of existence is crucial.
ADDENDUM: we tend to think of the current federal judiciary as an aberration; it is more like the historical norm, meaning awful. The post-World War II Warren court was actually the outlier. It started degrading through the 1970s, and Clarence Thomas’s appointment was the beginning of the end.
Throughout history, the court has been imperious and a friend of reaction. John Marshall usurped judicial powers nowhere granted in the Constitution, and did it in a case with a blatant conflict of interest. We all know about Dred Scott v. Sandford, which culminated in a four-year bloodbath. The gilded age court invented corporate personhood out of whole cloth, while progressive era and New Deal legislation was struck down by reactionary courts.
Dump it all and start over.
So Covenant Eyes says this is a no-no…
But this gets a pass…
Methinks the code writer has some skeletons in his closet…
This is a great point that I missed, but somehow, national security damage notwithstanding, it just adds to the overall ridiculousness of Mike Johnson’s God-bothering schtick.
Gumbo recipe looks great. Love the rice directions!
“Now COVER the pot, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes.
Turn off the heat and let it sit for five more minutes. Don’t you dare take off the lid until the five minutes is up.”
Mrs. Jstrummer has been picking up various cooking appliances to clutter the counter. Air fryer and Insta pot. As much as I dislike the clutter of contraptions…have to admit the insta pot makes amazing rice.
Anyone who bought into it is an idiot. There’s no such thing as a First Amendment maximalist, because there’s always something that offends them.
Pple however love enlightened despots, so ok.
Fascism creeps its way along at our peril.
Absolutely correct. I taught high school students for 40 years and all I ever needed to do was explain it to them. It worked with using cell phones in class, texting while driving, sexting, and reading the assigned texts rather than using Spark Note
People in their teens (and essentially everyone else) long to have authority figures explain things to them. They know that authority figures always have complete information and only want what is best for them.
This is the best thing I’ve read recently as background to the current Gaza conflict. It’s a panel discussion by scholars and experts – 3 Palestinians, 3 Jews, and one American diplomat – about how the various efforts at a peace process in Oslo and Camp David unraveled over the years, with plenty of blame to go around on all sides.
I had always thought that the two sides were close to an agreement, that there was a path to peace at one point. This changed my mind. It was never really a close thing; neither side was willing to give up enough to reach an agreement. Free gifted link:
Gotta go. Pre-surgery appointment. Later everyone!
