Elon Gives House GOP A Little Incentive For Helping The Executive Defy The Judiciary

Thank you. I saw their list of various candidates to be aware of, including a school board candidate in Kenosha and a link to send them info on other candidates that we’r’e aware that support Moms for Liberty, school choice, etc. I sent them the info on the Republican candidate for State School Superintendent, Brittany Kinser.

I believe (but am not sure) that judges can deputize other law enforcement officers if necessary.

That’s what struck me. Maybe the idea is that Elon can legally channel money their way via PACs and such.

That’s one of the silliest claims I’ve ever seen made. First, you must not know many lawyers. Second, maybe those “guys” (I hope you’re using the word in its broadest sense, though usually it’s only applied to males) never took organic chemistry because they had no interest in it. And you have heard of different kinds of intelligence, haven’t you? Step back and think about how the celebration of STEM intelligence and achievement as the greatest and best, esp. when it’s used to make a lot of money, is exactly what has elevated Elon Musk and the DOGE bros to their current position.

Will it be one blank page?

This lawyer went waaaay past calculus and organic chem before STEM was a thing.

Yes they can, and local LE, especially sheriffs, are even Democrats. @califdemdreamer

This chemist was headed for law school at a time when the ABA published a stat that 1/3 of the legal profession would be have to retire each year to accommodate the new law school grads. So I went back and parlayed my philosophy degree into a chemistry degree with two more years of study. Then I went to graduate school. I was already deep into math and science as electives for my philosophy degree. @mch @thomaspaine

The only discrimination reported will be that against white Christianist males.

My son took the minimal requirements in math and science in college, majored in philosophy, got a Ph.D. in it, and then did a post-bacc pre-med and then med school. I’ll never forget the student I had who was double-majoring in Classics and Chemistry and who told me she was finding intermediate ancient Greek harder than the organic chem class (or maybe it was inorganic) she was taking that semester. She was a solid Greek student but a stellar Chem student. She loved Greek (and Latin) but was just better at the Chem stuff. Different kinds of intelligence, different interests… English majors (maybe Art History, too) have to put up with the most jibes simply because, yeah, it’s easier to get a B+ in most English courses than in most Chem courses. But that doesn’t make English majors less intelligent than Chem majors. One of the truly brilliant students I taught was an English major who went straight from college to Harvard Law. He wasn’t just brilliant but kind and thoughtful – insightful. I bet he has gone on to become a dynamite lawyer.

I have always had wide interests. I ended up being a jack of many trades, and Master of few. Law school was a sensible choice for a philosophy major, but I wouldn’t have been happy in a big law firm anyway. I found out I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life in a lab, either. I had a mid-life crisis and took a job as a process engineer in a papermill. I also had a few years as an engineer producing poultry vaccines for avian flu and a host of other pathogens. Interesting stuff. Learned a great deal about large scale commercial freeze drying of live vaccines. Anyway, I should go. My Mrs has a knee replacement scheduled for early tomorrow, and we are staying at a hotel near the surgery where the insurance company put us up.

Good luck to your Mrs.! (And I appreciate jacks of many trades, masters of few. A life well lived.)

Our son was a dual major in English and Interdisciplinary Studies (my wife called it choose your own adventure) and went on to get a Ph.D. in Jurisprudence & Social Policy (more of that interdisciplinary stuff). Our daughter got her BFA in Painting & Drawing and considered getting a degree in art history. Decided to get her MFA in Painting instead. So two kids with “most jibes” degrees. He’s a PoliSci professor and she teaches art classes at a state university.
