A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version. Name And Shame! I don’t recall an outgoing interim U.S. attorney holding a press conference at the end of their brief tenure, but then no one else has been a rolling clown show like Ed…
What’s cooking in Doha this morning?
[Trump likes camels and perfect marble.]
He paused and looked around, marveling at the architecture.
“The job you’ve done is second to none. You look at this, it’s so beautiful. As a construction person, I’m seeing perfect marble. This is what they call perfecto.”
Trump also remarked about the camels he saw upon arrival.
“We appreciate those camels. I haven’t seen camels like that in a long time. And it was some greeting, we appreciate it very much.”
[Trump is perplexed about whether or not he should attend the Russia-Ukraine talks in Türkiye]
“[Putin would] like me to be there, and that’s a possibility … I don’t know that he would be there if I’m not there. We’re going to find out.”

‘Young, attractive guy, tough guy’: Trump praises Syrian president Ahmed al-Sharaa
“Young, attractive guy. Tough guy. Strong past. Very strong past. Fighter.”
Trump added:
“He’s got a real shot at holding it together. I spoke with President Erdoğan, who is very friendly with him. He feels he’s got a shot of doing a good job. It’s a torn-up country.”

‘Completely out of bounds’: Trump ripped over $300M windfall from Chinese-backed company
The New York Times reported that GD Culture Group became on Monday the latest foreign-linked entity to capitalize on $TRUMP, Trump’s cryptocurrency initiative that funnels profits directly to the Trump family.
GD Culture Group, who has only eight employees per its public filings, is said to have recorded zero revenue last year.

“This is a once-in-a-century brain gain opportunity.”–Australian Strategic Policy Institute, urging its government to woo U.S.-based scientists and researchers caught in the Trump II attack on research and development*
The last time something like this happened was when the previous Hitler denounced ‘Jewish physics’.
Pete Rose?
She’s looking very stern. Like she caught you stealing her catfood.
Martin said. “And we will name them, and in a culture that respects shame, they should be people that are ashamed.
Really? MAGA seems immune.

At his farewell presser, Martin was already making noises about reviewing the Biden pardons.
Bottom line
Trump can’t reverse Biden’s pardons
Legal experts agreed that nothing in the Constitution or the law permits pardons to be reversed.
“Pardons are final and irrevocable,” Kalt said.
In an 1869 ruling, a federal court wrote: “The law undoubtedly is, that when a pardon is complete, there is no power to revoke it, any more than there is power to revoke any other completed act.”
Martin doesn’t even realize the can of worms he’d be opening with the Biden pardon stuff.
He’d be taking away his own future pardon should he try something like that.
‘Something wrong with him’: Trump attacks Schumer for obstructing justice department picks over Qatar jet gift
Earlier Donald Trump said that there’s “something wrong” with Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, in response to the senator placing a blanket hold on all justice department political nominees until the White House provides answers about plans to accept a $4oom luxury jet from Qatar for presidential use, CNN reports.
U.S. District Judge Stephanie Lou Haines of Western Pennsylvania became the first judge to mostly uphold President Trump’s invocation of the Alien Enemies Act
Auditioning for the part of Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephanie Lou Haines!
Research and development experts are smart enough to know when opporknockity is tuning. The non-U.S. world awaits.
ETA: To our great loss.
Martin said. “And we will name them, and in a culture that respects shame, they should be people that are ashamed.
A culture that respects shame? If we lived in a culture that respected shame, Ed Martin would have crawled into a hole and died years ago.
If Ed Martin wants to name and shame people then every time the media report on his stunts the article should start with, “Failed Congressional candidate and Missouri attorney Ed Martin, who has been known to illegally destroy public records, has been found liable in court for defamation, and who as Interim US Attorney for the District of Columbia demonstrated his total incompetence as an attorney…”
Trump says the US has a “very special relationship” with Qatar, and then oddly compares the emir to the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman saying they’re both “tall handsome guys”. He spoke similarly of Syrian president Ahmed al-Sharaa earlier.
