Embattled Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) announced on Monday that he will change his plea to “guilty” in his campaign finance fraud case on Tuesday.
It is unclear if Hunter has plans to resign from his seat.
Isn’t it the usual practice to trade resigning for a reduced sentence (or in this case, reduced charges)?
Regardless, effectively an open seat in 2020.
Hunter’s concern for his kids is truly laudable. I’m sure that engaging in acts of public corruption and throwing their mother under the bus to save himself have had a beneficial effect on his children.
I read that the resignation is usually part of the plea deal package.
Only 1 count? That’s pretty light considering all the information that has come out.
Hunter: “I’m guilty, but my wife made me do it”
I’m going to get up early tomorrow morning to get in line to see this in person.
Resign?
Pulease! He won’t do it because…because of the kids! All three of them!
Duncan, your district deserves better. Resign.
The congressman admitted he “did make mistakes.”
Embezzling $250,000 is one hell of a “mistake”.
Well, a Republican who can actually see reality. The man is a fool and now he will be a convicted fool. When his wife is done with him…he tried to throw her under the bus…I’m hoping he’ll have little to nothing left. Just a terrible man getting his just deserts. Here’s hoping we never have to hear about him ever again.
…and after Hunca Dunter resigns, california will be down to just 6 GOP congresscritters, from 53 districts. They could caucus at a card table.
Hunter: “And I’m using my children to deflect attention from how stupid I was to use campaign funds for my various affairs.”
Last I heard he and his wife were fighting because he was eager to throw her under the bus. How did that work out?
Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help

“I’m guilty, but my wife made me do it”
I was putty in her hands. I am a weak man.
In the interest of conservative family values, Duncan should dunk his wife under the bus again.
Yet another episode of “Republican Profiles in Courage.” He did it for his kids, doncha know. What a terrific role model.
Somehow, I get the sense that that is likely the true reason to avoid a public trial, for the kids.
mistakes
Crimes.
$250,000 is not a mistake.
