Dominion Voting Systems CEO John Poulos is accusing Fox News of knowingly fueling fake MAGA conspiracy theories that claimed his voting tech firm hacked the 2020 election and stole it from ex-President Donald Trump.
I get the impression that Democrats will push back on RepubliQan lies even more than normal. Should be an interesting next two weeks. Bob Woodward pushing “Trump Tapes,” etc. Lots of “October Surprise” to fit into only 14 days!
Not even including that Donny Dotard is ready for a padded cell.
Poulos said he and his employees have been “put into danger” due to the lies Fox amplified, which sparked threats that have continued to this day, nearly two years after the election.
“This is something that continues to happen every single day for us,” he said. “Last Friday we had an office on lockdown.”
Wow, I guess there really is a violent crime wave in America!
(Of course, the real genius of this is that Fox figured out how to both create and flog it.)
Reminds me of business plans 101: Privatize the profits, socialize the costs…in other words, expropriate and liquidate public goods, while externalizing and socializing costs. Fox’s version targets Truth as the public good: Privatize truth, socialize lies for Fox and friends’ profits.
This was an enlightening interview on 60 Minutes. trumpbots got their orders and sprung into action on day one. Poulus and his employees get death threats through the mail, by phone and on social media. But he’s calm, sure of his management of Dominion and is suing for billions, even from bit players like Sidney Powell.
It amazes me that the Dominion lie still has a strong following despite the fact that hand recounts confirmed the original results that the Dominion machines tallied. If only there was a foolproof way to make people admit and accept that they were wrong because showing evidence unfortunately doesn’t do it anymore.
Fox News was the apparent inspiration for the plot in Tomorrow Never Dies. Of course, Fox News knew they were lying and they didn’t care. All that matters for them is the manipulation of their fan base. They are populated by a whole bunch of Bond level villains. I hope Dominion just destroys them.
I really hope he isn’t interested in hearing Fox n Fucks say they were wrong. I mean, he could hold his breath, I suppose. I just want him to make sure they KNOW they were wrong, in billion dollar terms.
Welcome to the post truth world. Facts don’t mean a damn thing. Propaganda in support of tribalism is all that matters. Everybody has his own “truthiness.”
It’s because the people flogging the lie aren’t bothering to mention the recount (or they discount it as unreliable because reasons). And of course the sources that are reporting the truth about the recount are “not trustworthy” because reasons.
If Fox News were bombarding their airwaves with reports on the reliability of the Dominion voting machines, it might start to tamp down on the hate against Dominion, while ramping up the hate targeted at Fox News. The haters would continue to abandon Fox and turn to OANN and Newsmax and worse outlets, which of course Fox has decided it cannot afford to do long term, so it continues to try to straddle the line with defamation against Dominion.
He’s quietly furious underneath this calm demeanor. He began to tear up when he described how his female assistant gets threatening calls on her personal cell phone.
@sparrowhawk It is Fox and Fox alone who prolonged the lies about Dominion. They’re questioned by friendly village idiots, e.g. Bartiromo, they have a predictable answer, and are never asked why they’re so certain there was massive fraud and hijacking of Dominion machines.
Remember TFG’s comments during his campaign as “hyperbolic truth?”
A closer examination beyond the headlines also reveal many of them to be the same kind of virtual reality, or “hyperbolic truth,” as he calls it, he used effectively during the campaign.
Reading or listening to the orange thing’s answers or just his ad lib musings to Woodward was painful. It’s word salad on top of wilted word salad on top of worm-filled heads of lettuce. Not even going try to post his dribblings, they hurt my head.
This is the way I can always remember the date of my first marriage: It was the day before the Jonestown Massacre. Imagine our thoughts that morning after we heard the news.
