Perhaps, if the IG won’t investigate, the House Judiciary Committee should do so and subpoena James Hoekstra and Rudy Giuliani, among others, to testify under oath. That might prove interesting.
I’d prefer (maybe unrealistically) that we focused on getting the truth out there. It’s something the Left and Center aren’t really good at.
I’d like to be the one that starts the conversation, rather than having to defend against the conversation by some illiterate that starts with a half-truth. Like that nonsense earlier today with the interview with Chris Cuomo. A whole lot of time wasted trying to defend against ignorance and stupidity.
@ralph_vonholst - you know they wouldn’t show up. It would just get them more ink and more publicity.
This IG report is a little like condemning the guy who stole the next door’s neighbor’s garden hose to put out a fire when he saw that there was no hose in the house that was on fire, when the real crime was committed by the arsonists who set the fire. Never mind that he played a part in starting the fire, possibly unwittingly, and that the fire continued to burn. Those are separate issues. But misplacing the primary blame on him is so Catch-22 or straight out of Stalinist Russia.
Airing, denigrating and correcting falsehoods is part of that process. Now, I would agree that this is frequently not done correctly or harshly enough when sites reprint the right wing disinformation propaganda, but that’s a different point.
Dems’ approach continues to be that they’re above the dirty aspect of politics and will not muddy themselves by engaging in it, even if only to reveal it, and that they place their faith in the truth eventually coming out and voters responding accordingly.
They’re either incredibly stupid or using this as cover for cowardice. I vote the latter.
Porque no los dos??? LOL!!!
Retroactive classification is a foul and totally phony. A violation of policy is such a weak accusation. Spare me.
However, the Inspector General’s investigation found no evidence that “Comey or his attorneys released any of the classified information contained in any of the memos to members of the media.”
Likely because there wasn’t any?
Comey is no saint, that’s true but compared with his accuser, Trump, he is a hero.
DOJ will not prosecute. Could it be that even worse would be revealed about POTUS?
bingo
I am no fan of Comey’s. He swung the election to Trump but…
And did we mention that he obstructed justice on at least 10 occasions?
The Clinton campaign’s enduring belief is that if Comey had not spoken about her emails following remarks about Huma Abedin’s emails on or around October 28, 2016, 11 days before the election, trumPP would not have won. Comey’s no hero, with or without comparisons to the moron in the WH. I see a sanctimonious asshole making money out of his time in the FBI. On the plus side if 45 hadn’t fired him, Mr. Mueller would not have come into our lives.
I have no sympathy for Comey. Typical Republican whose hatred of Hillary TRUMPED everything else.
Look: Trump is a corrupt crook. The only people who do not believe this are in the Kult.
Let’s remain in the World of the Living, and give them a chance to hope.
For example, what is the count on House Dems in favor of an Impeachment Inquiry? It was 134 last I heard and earlier this summer, I had initially hoped for 118 by Labor Day.
How about some interviews of each and every one of those Dems as to their reasons for coming on Board with the Impeachment Inquiry.
Does a TPM story about Trump trolling Gillibrand really do us as much good?
It’s hyperbole, hunny. Hyperbole.
The crime was Trump’s attempt to bribe Comey, to let Flynn go and to try to incorporate the head of the FBI into the White House.
I want the discovery phase, damnit!!!
@leftcoaster, don’t confuse the minions with the facts. After all, Fox is apparently running with Comey about to indicted for leaking classified info, despite that the IG said none happened. Is anyone confronting Fox or anyone else running with this line? Of course not. Silly me…
Subpoenas issued these days aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.
