No cats. The ones who weren’t fired took the buyout offer.

Sad, really sad.

So this is what he meant by draining the swamp, getting rid of anybody that doesn’t kiss his ass.

Sounds like just the opposite of draining the swamp to me.

So, does the current SCoTUS believe 50.1% of the electorate is empowered to vote for the death of the other 49.9% of the people by electing a chief executive who’ll run the death camps?

This is some bullshit. Trump should not be rewarded for illegally removing a board member. I wonder if John Roberts still thinks this is part of Trump’s duties.

Roberts responds: “Meh. Fire 'em. Assassinate 'em. It’s all good.”

… … … … … …
The irony is thick. The firing was illegal. And the point of this dept is … partisan retribution prevention. Ok then this deserves two leopards snacking on a fat jowl on each side.

I don’t have any handy leopard images with bloody faces handy so my old kitty will hafta do…

Seems to me that the only difference between a maximalist version of the unitary executive theory and an authoritarian dictator is the title given to the position. Before the Supreme Court installs the all powerful executive if might want to give some thought to what it’s position would be in a government where “the Chief Justice has made his decision; now let him enforce it” is the law of the land.

“partially independent” is like being partially pregnant.

“Unitary Executive” and “Democracy” are an oxymoron. Why these conservative morons on the SCOTUS can’t see this is the height of both Federalist Society arrogance and profound ignorance / naivete’.

What makes the SCOTUS think that, once they empower a TRUE Unitary Executive, that the SCOTUS has ANY authority at all ? Who enforces their opinions ?? What happens if said Executive demands their resignations en masse if they decide something “wrongly” ? I mean how did these guys get into law school without learning ANYTHING about America Civics ??

BTW, 5’ 7" Zelenskyy is the LEAST of Trump’s problems in trying to dominate Europe on this Ukraine war deal. I just read a new story in The Atlantic on the new Chancellor in Germany, the CDU’s Friedrich Merz. He is 6’ 5" and a REAL hard ass and he HATES Putin. He wants nukes to deter Putin and force him out of Ukraine. Not sure if or when Trump will visit with Merz, but I can tell you if there is an ass-chewing in that meeting, Trump will be the chewee and NOT the chewer. This guy is exactly what the EU needs to put both Trump and Putin in their places in the dunce corner.

Ah, the unitary executive theory. Pretending to be an interpretation of the U.S. Constitution avidly debated for decades by Ivy-league lawyers, Supreme Court groupies and other “conservative intellectuals,” it’s all along been a bunch of mostly Christianist hacks inexplicably jonesing to live in a country whose single government “branch” is ruled by a moderately fascist right-wing dictator/oligarch.

Why does the theory of a Unitary Executive sound more and more like the CEO/President of a company that is not beholden to shareholders, or a board of directors?
We fought a fucking war, my ancestors were there, to stop being ruled by a king. And this Unitary Executive theory sounds and smells like kingship worship.

Seems like, for some unknown reason, the human population everywhere includes a segment that really really wants to have some sort of Tsar in charge, doesn’t it?

It’s some disease of the mind, is my guess.

I wonder whether the U.S. group thought that the first one we’d get would be a complete ignoramus and total idiot whose most prominent character trait is infantile peevishness?

The Seditious Six all collectively made their “O” faces when Zelinsky said TCF could fire every single person in the federal government. Assuming they’re listening, of course.

Seriously, the entire “unitary executive” theory is BS. Even if it wasn’t, it would only mean the president can manage the the federal workforce in ways that do not conflict with the Constitution or enacted law. The president is not a dictator.

Congress sets national policy, especially regarding revenue and spending. Not the president. The president is required to take care that the laws are faithfully executed. That’s it. He figures out the best way to implement the laws, within the constraints laid down by congress. Anything more would make congress an advisory committee, not a co-equal branch of the govt.

This is basic Govt 101 stuff. Why is it not being argued that way in the press? Oh wait, they’re all owned by billionaires, duh.

Sad.
