Nice to know that for decades we’ve been stocking our Supreme Court with these…Although it does explain some things there.

It’s obvious to me that if you say you can fire someone from this agency that congress gave this power to - then that agency no longer has the power that congress granted it either. How could you strike down that part of the law establishing such an agency but also say that the contingent aspects of the law - that the agency is protected from undue influence - still apply? It’s madness. If the Supreme Court throws that out, they might as well just hand Trump their pens and quit their jobs, since obviously he can write whatever laws he wants.

What the hell do you think will the people has to do with anything? SCOTUS misreads previous rulings. Make new, different laws based on whether states have power in the law like female health? Or does the president have power over state traffic and enforcement laws (states have rights inferior? This, as exercised by the little king recently over New York?

SCOTUS seems to serve the rich, and opposes human rights, and against history (I am not a historian (IANAH) SCOTUS seems to be expanding their own agency and federalist Society view of the presidency, and it’s recently been very surprising the gifts certain billionaires give some in SCOTUS.

“In the theory you just heard, not only is the Fed unconstitutional, the merit-based civil service is unconstitutional and the President can fire every single person in the executive branch,” Zelinsky said to end his presentation after the government’s lawyer spoke.

Start with JD. And then, since you’re the king, abdicate. There’s precedent for that.

They should admit Ukraine provisionally and kick the USA out provisionally until 2029 when a new President takes over.

The French and UK should tell Russia that the their nukes (about 500 of them) are sufficient to end the war by ending Russia as a sovereign entity. Anyone who has seriously studied this will tell you that 500 nukes on solid delivery platforms are just as effective as 1500 or 3000 nukes in destroying a country, especially one with political power concentrated in two metroplexs like Moscow and St. Petersburg. If Putin wants to fuck around and find out, it’s on him. After the dismal performance of his military over the last 3 years in Ukraine, how much does Putin REALLY think his old, decrepit, rusty and untested strategic forces are still capable of ? Call his bluff.

Max Seddon, FT Moscow correspondent:

"The ISW warned that cutting off US aid meant “Russia would leverage the cessation of US aid to Ukraine to seize more territory in Ukraine and attempt to exhaust European support — the approach Putin has outlined in his theory of victory.”

Of course, why would Trump take Putin’s Dream Stance? Putin’s original theory of victory was a 3-day invasion. That’s mighty powerful kompromat. But it also could be that it is Putin who has run out of runway. Russia has drained its reserves, it is still a pariah state, China only needs it for resources, and people in Russia are beginning to feel the war effects and lack of any future despite the information bubble they live in. It could be that all this is symptomatic of a Putin collapse, something Trump could then spin easily in his favor if it happens. In any case, it looks like Europe is stepping up big time at least through this year, even if Trump cuts off all US aid to Ukraine and leaves NATO. Certainly, China, Hungary, North Korea and Saudi are not coming to the US in anything but a transactional spirit. Six months of this nonsense will also not play well with US arms companies that have been supplying the war effort in Ukraine and getting about 80% of the money.

I don’t think the US has surrendered so much as shown it has completely incompetent people involved in the diplomatic process. If you trade commodities such as coffee or copper, the production-side trader (protecting stable or predictable commodity price rather than speculating) takes about 18 months of practice in the market before he or she is released to make real trades. A single bad trade can wipe out the entire year’s profits. (Trader incompetence can be expensive!) Diplomacy training takes even longer as nations are seeking to protect economic and strategic stability. Now Trump has fired all his experienced diplomats and negotiators, with the result that everything changes everyday for all players. Great television, lousy policy. Trump’s people failed out of the gate to create a negotiating position, and now, due to this own goal, have to pull away from Putin’s starting position, which now the Russians have to renegotiate. Does Putin own Trump or not? It is enjoyable, even schadenfreude, for Russians to watch Europe and the rest of the world flail, but the economic prosperity of half the world’s population is getting screwed up with this nonsense isn’t really going to help with sanctions or credible guarantees. Mike Waltz, a former Green Beret and Fox News talking head, is now supposed to be in the rooms where it happens, yet he lacks the years of containment that diplomats go through before they understand enough to open their mouths in a meeting.
