Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Monday afternoon that the Justice Department has launched a federal hate crime investigation into the brutal killing of a six-year-old Palestinian American boy in Illinois.

The cardinal rule in all cases is that if there isn’t a personal benefit for Donald in a situation (national interest or human suffering aren’t relevant issues for him) then it doesn’t ping on his radar.

So what?
The stupid…the hateful…the violent…the murderous we will always have with us. What matters is how we respond to that: We can either roll over and surrender to despair, or we can work to help heal the pain, because we’re stuck with the human condition for the duration.
The existential horrors of life are plentiful – and always will be – but most people have the courage and perseverance to roll up their sleeves, get on with the job of living, and do the best they can, working for positive change and helping those who suffer.
We’re not obliged to repair the whole world, just our own broken little piece of it, in whatever ways we can, using whatever resources each of us has.
What alternative is there?
I come back from three weeks on vacation, with no news consumption, and the first thing I hear about is some a-hole stabs a 6-year-old child 26 times. WTAF.

What Hamas did is dreadful, disgusting, beyond terrorism and human decency. Contrary to DeSantis and Trump, et al., not all Palestinians (or Syrians, Yemense, etc.) are terrorist Jew-haters.
Israel should have a concentrated, surgical response to the attacks. But the blanket denial of water, food, and electric (to run water pumps and hospitals) for 2M people who have no alternative should be rescinded immediately.
Old 1 term 2 impeachments 91 indictment counts bloviates thusly:
“We aren’t bringing in anyone from Gaza or Syria or Somalia or Yemen, or Libya, or anywhere else that threatens our security.”
How about Illinois? They seem to have some pretty bad hombres there.
That’s what Holy Wars are all about. And that is exactly where these numbskulls want to take us all – holy wars in education health care, our workplaces, our voting systems, and in our bedrooms, tvs/screens, and radios, newspapers and libraries. They won’t be happy until they face first to the East to be saved, and the rest of us (the unworthy heathens and non-Christians) rot in the eternal hell that is samsara.
On another point, I think this deranged cornfield murderer has already been charged with two hate crimes, among everything else. Enough for the death penalty. If you have seen a picture of this guy, no way is he competent to stand trial.; no amount of psychoactive treatment is gonna help. And, Illinois repealed capitol punishment in 2011, and hasn’t executed any one on death row since 1928. Even John Wayne Gacy’s deeds didn’t get full justice for his victims. He died in his jail cell.
If I had my druthers, Leonard Leo and his johns, as well as a few of his worst whores, would be under serious DOJ investigations, under a very morally righteous, fire breathing, special counsel.

I volunteer for an outfit called Lend-a-Hand that does “senior assistance”. Drive older folks to the store or a doctor appointment, light home fix up. And groceries every two weeks. There are 18 seniors on my list. I’m a “senior” too at 74. It’s important to me to give back to my neighborhood where I can. Assistance is not charity.
I’ve seen an image of the accused killer. Not a pretty sight.
Trump is well known to have on multiple occasions threatened our national security. As an example he just recently bragged about the classified capabilities of our nuke submarines to an Australian rich guy who then blabbered it to several dozen other people.
Yes, Be a Helper – foster children, volunteer as an aide in a school , sing songs to kids in cancer treatment units, work at a food bank or soup kitchen, Teach people how to read. Serve as a CASA for kids in the court system, be a friend to people in hospice care. Visit people in jail. Tutor math. Invite someone over for dinner. Make sandwiches with and and take crazy people to the park and have a picnic. OMG, how many ways we can help. Help people build houses. Register and help people vote. Paint and sew for friends. Shovel and plow snow for neighbors. Grow flowers for people, vegetables, too! Be a pet sitter/walker. Donate $$ to good organizations, Help people do their taxes, volunteer for youth sport teams.
BE a FRIEND!
(BTW – I’ll tell you how easy it is, because over my life I have done all of these activities, one time or another. The joy I got from doing these things paid me back three times in joy and love and caring.
Find something and DO IT!

Hate crime investigation? Why? Of coarse it was and the guy’s 71…never going to see the street again. Even without the hate tacked on. It was a hate crime. The killer will lose the rest of his life for it. The mother of the child will get all the man has and he will spend his time wishing he hadn’t done what he did. The torment will kill him.
