If national security is the man’s concern he might want to add South Africa ( Elon Musk ) and Australia ( Rupert Murdoch ) to that list. But. Those words are spewed to rally and lock in the red neck rube vote. “gonna get em” doesn’t take much brains to identify with. Nixon figured that out and based his Southern Strategy on it. It’s true that you can’t fix stupid but if you throw the right kind of dip shittery bait out there you can get it to vote for you.

A woman (I missed the lead-in) w/same last name (wife or daughter, don’t know I am sorry I don’t want to go read a story about a 6yo stabbed 26x) said he had been watching The News (would like to know who/what network he watches) and feared that the woman and her son were going to kill him.
So he went to kill ‘them’ first.

Assistance IS “charity”, unless you bill for it at market value. It’s just that somehow “charity” became an obscenity. Says something about US society.

A guy was newly in a wheelchair. He lives in a trailer. I built a wood ramp for him so he could access where he lives. Is that “charity”? More like a favor to a friend.

It’s helping someone walking on the path, or helping to cross a road. It’s being generous with your time or skills. It’s being helpful to others in need. Charity has gotten a connotation of involving money. It doesn’t take money to lend a hand, as you know. More to life than treasure is talent and time.
And, yes, you are a mensch.

This is who I work with as a volunteer. I would never do it for money.
As I have said, it’s just assistance, a hand up not a hand out. I do it for the smiles and the thank you’s. I take simple fruits and veggies in a grocery bag to 18 people. That’s 18 bags.
A local grocery store has gone over the top in generosity to support what we do. It;s just by contribution. Imagine groceries every two weeks for a grand total of around $4/year per person and that is due to the generosity of the Basha Family who owns the store. We could not do this without them. Thru us 135 people get some decent food to eat. I feel good about that.
