The Department of Justice has taken on the sublime task of defending President Trump’s ability to block people he doesn’t like on Twitter.
This is how the DOJ thinks they should be spending their time and resources?
How can we sue Trump to pay these legal fees for all of his litigious behavior? He’s always been a litigious piece of shit, now he’s wasting public money on it.
I have a solution. Trump can resign to become a private citizen so he can block everyone he wants.
Emoluments Clause
Treason
Gerrymandering
Money Laundering
Hatch Act
And this is what the Dept. of Justice needs to attend to immediately?
I hope the government lawyers arguing for DT’s personal twitter rights land on their asses hard when they are laughed all the way out of court.
The government’s response is that the President is not acting in his official capacity when he blocks users
“In answer to the Court’s question, the government is treating the President’s statements to which plaintiffs point — whether by tweet, speech or interview — as official statements of the President of the United States,” the Justice Department responded. - The Washington Times - Tuesday, November 14, 2017
Will the DOJ assert that it knowingly and intentionally misrepresented its position to the Court in 2017, that it is now knowingly and intentionally misrepresenting its position to the Court, or that the the law has to be flexible to accommodate the situational needs of the Snowflake-in-Chief?
The DOJ is taking a consistent position - it sees its purpose as the protection of Trump in all his unlawful endeavors.
This is stupid. Block away once he’s back in private life I suppose. But it does seem like his entire twitter existence while in office needs to be archived. Including DMs.
The malign hand of William ‘my Roy Cohn’ Barr’s is clearly evident in this frivolous waste of public funds
The President — I mean when we get a legitimate one — can’t bounce in-and-out of privilege whenever he wants to. He can’t be excused from indictment because “he’s so busy and his job is so important,” and then turn around and say he’s going off the clock and should be regarded like everyone else.
“The importance of en banc review here is underscored because the panel’s novel and mistaken First Amendment reasoning is being applied not just to any public official, but to the President of United States,” the DOJ said, according to CNN. “Accordingly, en banc rehearing should be granted.”
Well… I can’t image that any career DOJ lawyers will be anxious to subject themselves to oral arguments en banc. If you listen to the cspan arguments made before the 3 judge panel back in March, you can’t help but feel sorry for the DOJ lawyers that stood before those judges and saw their arguments destroyed without mercy. It was quite entertaining but it must have been a professional nightmare.
I hope BARR elects to appear in person.
We The People should charge Trump legal fees for using DOJ as his personal law firm as well as make him pay for Coverup General Barr’s salary since he clearly is working for Trump and not for America!
And let us NOT forget what the DOJ under Coverup General Barr is circulating, reading & discussing…
”white nationalism, anti-Semitic and anti-immigration rhetoric”
US DOJ should be renamed to “Trump’s Department of Injustice” so as NOT to confuse, demean and diminish the role, goal & job of US DOJ, which is responsible for the enforcement of the law and administration of justice in the United States and NOT Trump’ lawlessness!
Impeach.
William.
Barr.
Doesn’t the fact that taxpayers’ lawyers are spending time on this refute their own claim this is or will be his private Twitter account.
I’m still waiting for the ongoing investigations mentioned by Mueller in his testimony. You know, the ones proving the criminal in the WH is illegitimate.
Hillary and 65 million voters are waiting for justice.
Under Barr the Dept will be renamed Department of Bootlicks, Courtiers, & Sycophants. (DBCS).
For the life of me I can’t figure out how to leave a first-level comment, so I’m replying to yours.
This is the next necessary step before appealing to SCOTUS. I’m pretty sure that what we see next is denial of en banc review (or less likely but possible granting, hearing, then affirming the 3 judge panel) then an appeal to SCOTUS. What an amazing waste of tax dollars so the mad emperor can continue his petty retaliations and to insulate himself from criticism.
There may be a better way, but, since the redesign, I now scroll to the bottom of a topic, and click the “Reply” button just above “Suggested Topics” : - )
