This kid thinks he’s above the law. And he thought he could just up the price of that drug 1500% just to acquire money and not for any other actual production reason. The prosecutors have evidence of this kid saying he hoped to keep the gouge going for several years and thereby collect a billion dollars.

Some of you may remember situations from your youth when a cop was deciding if you were good but slightly rowdy kids who just needed a talking-to or bad kids who needed to get locked up. Shkreli is the kind who finds himself in that situation and keeps on arguing and wising off with the cop, and he’s too big a douche to know the cop always, always wins these things.

Not defending the little asshole, but raising the price may very well be connected to his fraud indictment, since he was probably hoping to use the profits to pay off the money he took from the previous company. Basically he runs Ponzi schemes as businesses.
Also, too, imagine being a big enough asshole that you make Trey Gowdy seem reasonable.

The problem is that he went before a divided committee who showed that they were long in the tooth (well Gowdy) in regards to these matters. I’d have left his fate to the courts, because this scene plays out like Rafa Palmero wagging his finger at a congressional committee.
