LA is one of the poorest states in the union. Which is to say few states benefit such a great majority of their people with Dem policies and few states harm more of its people with GOP policies. But if personality was equal, the second big issue was RACE. The White majority was only to happy to talk about how they understood that Ronald Reagan was really shafting them and stealing from them. But they loved Reagan because he “Fs black people worse.” Only they never used the word Black people.
Vitter, being a lying crook will not affect how most LA voters so long as his polices are not subtle in shafting Blacks regardless of the Whites shafted. However, John Bel Edwards is showing a personality that like Edwin Edwards may overcome his not being a racist. Add to it that John Bel unlike Vitter and Edwin Edwards is not a crook, LA may have its first honest Dem governor since before Edwin Edwards
Is this white privilege? I’ve been trying to figure it out. What makes some people’s ignorance or uncertainty on an issue instantly morph into a solid belief that their imagined possible fear becomes fact to be repeated and referenced in policy decisions?
Is it just that white people and whatever their popular opinion is, regardless of fact, has so consistently won the debate over the years, that now that they are losing sway and terrified of everything, their craziest imagined fears become fact for them and solid ground for policy decisions? It’s not like they are afraid and unsure and want to figure it out. They are afraid and use their ignorance to just straight make up stuff to proclaim as real, even in direct challenge to actual real information of what they are afraid of.

Here is basically how it works for refugees entering the country. Its a laborious process to vet these folks, but once here there are a number of things that should and do take place to help people adjust to their new adopted country. Much of it depends on who and how the refugee is sponsored however. Its not rocket science. Its what we do best as Americans, in the finest tradition of our original founding as a nation of immigrants.
What the House wants to do is defund the resources that now help and enable those refugees from getting the services they need, as well as making it more byzantine to arrive in the first place. In some States they’ve already put certain limitations on those aids and resources, out of pure political calculus.

Edwards is also doing robocalls. I did not listen to his but I assume he talks about refugees. The robocalls are endless. We have stopped answering the phone.
