Republicans need a few good con men to fill their leadership positions. Trey and McCarty just aren’t that good.
The jig was up on Benghazi writ large when McCarty admitted that the whole exercise was an effort to discredit Clinton. Trey’s specific jig was up when he told Republicans to shut up because they have no idea what facts he discovered. This is a rather obvious problem for a chairman whose claim to fame is his steadfast insistence that his committee exists to discover facts.

Republicans remained largely silent this week even as Democrats dragged Gowdy’s name through the mud. In a Monday appearance on MSNBC, select committee member Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) accused the chairman of trying to “smear” Clinton by suggesting she was personally responsible for security failures at the Benghazi compound. Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), the ranking Democrat on the panel, responded to the report about Gowdy’s refunded donations with a statement that said the chairman’s ties to the Stop Hillary PAC treasurer "directly contradict the promise we made to the families of the four brave Americans.”
These are examples of “dragging Gowdy’s name through the mud”?

The witch hunters have become the witches. This sham has drug out so long that there was no way that the Repubs were going to keep their dark secret hidden. Issa was never taken seriously partly because he announced that all he was about was running investigations for the sake of investigations and because he is a thief, an arsonist, a cheat and a liar. Lets say that his credibility was lacking.
Gowdy glommed on seeking fame and after 18 months or so, he’s got it, he’s a real famous clown in a group of otherwise infamous clowns.
The Repubs gave it their best efforts to discredit President Obama, there was a real DVD and that vicious Birther brouhaha and it stopped 2 time President dead in his tracks, except it didn’t. These guys are going with the same failed bullshit that they always do and all that it accomplishes is, guaranteeing yet another 2 term Democratic President.
Just ask Bill, Barack or soon to be 2 timer, Hillary.
