Well, I was wrong about the location. This was taken from behind, looking in to the HR, not from across the floor.

But listen to the lack of buzz. This was a mike with a parabolic dish being pointed at the doorkeeper because they wanted to pick up the “Mr. Speaker: His Holiness, Pope Francis!”

Which means whoever said it was either in very, very close proximity to the soundman or in a direct line between the sound man and the Pope, who you see standing there in the door. Which, in turn, pretty much has to mean it was a staffer or a reporter. And no, next to no chance it was just small talk. It was a nasty little crack about throwing a shoe at the Pope.

Can you imagine the heart attack she must be having right now? The fear someone will figure out it’s her?

Steve, if it’s a staffer, you’d have to increase the list of potential targets by 535 or so.

You can at least eliminate the women. It was a gender-specific threat.

Dollars to donuts it was the batshit crazy Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC)

It’s very likely that someone was obstructing her view of His Holiness, thus the exclamation; nothing more.

Could have been any of a number of Christian Wrong Pharisees? Detected a distinct Southern drawl and superior attitude.

I had no idea my 86 year old mother was at the capitol!

Who the hell is that crazy lady from Iowa who just got elected? Joanie Earnst???

It sounds like something she would say and do.

I hope they find out who it was…

Before or after they connect it to Benghazi?
