Note to TPM style czar… What is with this wall-of-text formatting you have adopted?
It’s hard to read, hard to skim, and unattractive.
It costs nothing to insert a blank line between paragraphs nor to indent the first line of each paragraph.
Well I think everyone knows what went down at the Bridge. Christie was pissed off and in character asked for retaliation. He had his people come up with a plan and it sounded good to him. They fucked with traffic on the busiest bridge in the world just to make a political headache for the Democratic Mayor at one end of the bridge. Christie like it so it went down.
Plus the lot of them are pretty dumb. If you close ( realign ) lanes in the GWB you are going to jack with thousands upon thousands of people. They are going to want an explanation. So Mastro was paid out of those people’s money to fabricate an explanation that exonerated the only man benefiting from the prank. It threw folks under the bus, used euphemisms like “lane realignment” and broke documentation retention laws.
In so far as cover-ups go that’s a perfect storm. But Christie’s position and past position ( Gov and DA ) put him right where he needs to be to derail this mess. Unless the guys that want him aren’t dumb and keep the investigation on the rails until they get what they want. And it looks like that is what he’s up against.
“This is all becoming too much of a distraction. I’m pulling out of the Presidential race in order to get things back to reality and to focus on the real issues concerning the people”…around March of 2016 I think.
They fucked with traffic on the busiest bridge in the world, one of the major arteries in and out of NYC, on the anniversary of 9/11.
I think its a block clip from an AP bit.
This is what Christie gets for hugging Obama.
Its Brian Murphy, who has been TPM’s guy all over the Christie stuff since it started breaking. His articles are always deeper and longer than the typical AP overview stories.
The only concern here is there really isn’t much new news. Murphy reported on the problems with law firm dragging their feet on releasing the investigative material some time ago. The only change is there seems to be a bit more detail about their defense for not releasing the info.
But basically, in AP style, her lawyers are still demanding the investigative notes, and the law firm is still saying they can’t provide it.
Brian Murphy has his finger on NJ’s political pulse.
You know when he writes about Christie and Bridgegate-- you’re going to get meat-and-potatoes.

Agree, but some days it’s warmed over meat and potatoes.
Mastro et al are desperately trying to flirt with obstruction of justice without crossing the line. I hope the metadata buries them.
This is just the defense thus far. If the feds get involved, will it be orange -jumpsuit instead of white-shoe? Not only have they got the potential obstruction and contempt issues, they’ve also got the fact that they took $5M from the state and didn’t do what they were (officially) instructed to…
Halperin said Christie might have an opening? WTF? How in the world does Halperin have a job?
I have always said that this wasn’t over for Christie. At the trial it will be a he said, she said moment. Also, I still believe that Wildstein knows a lot about Christie and if gets on the stand will tell all.
the only smart thing he has done in his administration
you can say that about a lot of so called journalist these days ,starting with david Gregory andrea Mitchell judy miller and chuck toad etc etc just show up for a pay check and face time on the boob tube and to do what they are told
Brian Murphy continues to do absolutely stellar work on Bridgegate–this is investigative journalism such as we rarely see anymore, but so essential to the transparency in government that a democracy depends on. Kudos to Mr. Murphy, and to TPM for sponsoring and publishing his critical research.
"A Bridge Too Far"
Stick a fork in your presidential ambitions, Porky, you are done.
In the end…it is always the cover up that gets the politician. All of these folks are simply to clever by half.
You had Crispy’s attention at “heaping new spoonful.”
