So now that FOX has been chastised for the debate ‘blood wedding’ fiasco the other networks, quick to ID FOX as the loser, must be really turning up the Trump spotlight and not playing nice like FOX…What!!! Just like FOX? Huh.
Plus, so typical of a cowardly bully to leak word of his bravery…

Megyn has the potential to be a pretty decent newscaster if she could get away from Fox and out of that corset they bind her in. She could find work elsewhere. She’s made some good money at her stint at Fox, they’ve made her a star. If she really wanted to be a “good journalist” she probably could make a decent go of it in another venue if she really wanted to. If she really is taking some time off, she’s got some options to think about. Not a bad place to be depending on what’s in her contract (barbed wire no doubt) and when it is up.

The General is an awesome film.
I believe that this is what distresses me the most about the state we are in. What we call “The Press” and its present makeup.
In the 1960s, were Megyn Kelly to be in the employ of a Sleaze outfit like FOX, she could and probably would do what you suggest.
Now, the entire system is extremely corroded. It is not the Fourth Estate anymore. Rather, is another part (like fossil fuels, Wall Street, etc) of a system the components of which are designed to entertain, provide some necessities and, above all, separate consumers from their .money.
In this system there is more of a market for what Megyn does at FOX than what Rachel does at MSNBC. Even if she were to decide to be a “good journalist”, she would see a least a couple of things. One, there would be a replacement at FOX doing exactly what she did and worse. Two, she would see that there would be more of a material reward reading a teleprompted script of hooey than doing the arduous work of investigative reporting. She would rightly conclude that the System of what we used to call “journalism” is so weakened that whatever she does or doesn’t do would be irrevelant.
The truly distressing part of all of this is the RESPONSE to what I have just outlined…
THE INTERNET! THAT’S the answer. Who needs reporters? Who needs bureau news chiefs? Who need editors? Who needs the news agencies which have the resources to SEND journalists into the Field?.
I am probably in the lower tier of posters on this site, but even if I were not, what I say is informed opinion, NOT journalistic reporting! Too much info gleaned from bloggers is not much better.

What makes a good journalist these days? I see the primary requirement to look good and talk good on the air but what about the real parts of journalism? Do we even have any credible journalists in the cable/network media?

I keep thinking in the back of my mind that Rump is the 2015 version of Pat Paulsen, but without the genius, the comedic acumen, and the truly funny and lovable character that grabbed everyone’s attention at the time.
I can almost hear Rump trying to channel him sometimes though. “Picky, picky, picky…”
Btw, one of my favorite Paulsen lines was in reference to the 2nd Amendment.

Was this before or after he capitulated to all of Trump’s terms? Ailes did what Reince Preibus told him and it backfired there is no saving face now.
Trump criticized Bernie Sanders for backing down from Black Lives Matters protesters saying he was weak. Trump backed down from WAR with Roger Ailes and Fox - how can Trump stand up to Putin or anyone if he can’t go to war with Fox - talking about WEAK!
