Having lived before abortion was legal and birth control was a condom, I have never understood women who vote for Republicans who want to outlaw abortion AND make getting birth control difficult and expensive. But women have always been their own worst enemies.

Too often women supporting the Republican stance on abortion have their own self-interest at heart. They want to shine as a supporter of “life” not understanding if every pregnancy made it to maturity the population on this planet would be even more frightful than it already is. They don’t much care how those unwanted babies fare in the world either.

When Gandhi said, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ,¨ he hadn’t met Jimmy Carter.

They say “you can’t take anything with you” when our time here is finished – But I believe that the character we develop and the integrity we practice can be – At least… these are the things that no one can take away – I feel like they are a catalyst — The things that are needed to catapult us into the next reality…

If this is the case… I’m sure Jimmy Carter will still be moving past the edge of our known universe –

There is nothing conservative about Obama. He inherited a fucking shit mess and all of the plans he had while he was campaigning went out the door when the economy tanked to say nothing about the republican party who met the day of his inauguration to make him a one term candidate. Governing isn’t easy and when the other side is determined to stop you at every turn, it makes it difficult. His accomplishments are many. It really pains me that people give him so little credit for his accomplishments in the face of such adversity.

While nothing to be sneezed at, it pales in comparison to Obama’s accomplishments

I hate cancer. I would wish nobody would have to suffer from it.

If anyone was ever the adult in the room it has been Obama. On so many occasions. I think history will eventually see him as a great president.

I swear cancer is the worst word in the world. This news hit me hard.

I see Obama and Carter in a similar light.

They were both elected fairly young, to the relief of a nation (preceding admin not great) and faced Historic obstruction (for the times). Both even had the opposing party working with foreign gov’t to undercut them. All the while handled with class…

My thoughts are with JC and his family…

He lives his faith. If that gets him into paradise, cool. If that gets him reincarnated at a higher level, also very cool. If his body simply returns to stardust, no need for regret. He lives knowing he dedicated his life to making the world a better place. The good a person does on Earth lives on as what we call progress.

A truly good man who has probably been more revered for his time since leaving office than the time he occupied it. No other President has come close to accomplishing anything like Carter’s dedication to humanity since leaving the Oval Office.

It’s pretty plain that this is the end game for this magnificent man. Go in peace. Go with God.

If appointing Ken Salazar as Sec. of the Interior isn’t a conservative move, I don’t know what is. I’m not taking away from Obama’s accomplishments considering his adversaries, but promoting TPP isn’t a progressive stance by a long shot. I’m not going to go through his record to justify my feelings about Obama. He just struck me as a manufactured candidate, and no one could ever say that about Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy Carter was one of the first pioneers of the solar movement. He believed in energy conservation, not only talking the talk but walking the walk. Who knows how much further we could have advanced in alternative energy had it not been for the shortsightedness and good ol’ boy network of Reagan.

Obama is living in a time of social media power. He has always had social warriors fighting the good fight with him. He had Oprah on his side, a major force. Compared to that, Jimmy Carter had nothing but biased media and a populace willfully ignorant of the truth because they liked that bullsh*t artist Reagan. Let’s see what Obama’s accomplishments are over the long run, post presidency, compared to Jimmy Carter’s. There’s the true test of accomplishments worth noting.

Cancer is too common and almost seems inevitable anymore. I too have survived a couple of rounds of it and it seems crazy that I got it and at only 50, but I did.

The good news is that there are far more survivors than the death sentence that it used to almost automatically be.

Jimmy Carter is a humble person that you have to stop and appreciate. It seems that he has been around and doing good forever and that his Presidency is secondary to his missions.
90 is getting up there without a killer disease. I hope he survives and goes out on his own terms and not like this. No matter really though, Jimmy Carter is a great person and an American legend.

I wish him peace and peace of mind.

Unfortunately, liver cancer has a very poor prognosis. I just had to say see you later to my 16 year old dog due to liver cancer. It’s the same crap sandwich in humans and animals. While I have the greatest empathy for what he’s going through there’s no tragedy in checking out at his ripe old age.

Good and decent folk like Jimmy Carter shouldn’t have this sort of travail.
By the rules I haven’t beaten the disease yet. I’m just 3 years out. Many have had cases way way worse than mine and recovered. I hope Mr Carter’s isn’t too hurtful.

Carter is one of them.

Probably the only president we’ve ever had who genuinely demonstrated authentic faith as a Christian. Jimmy Carter is an amazing man, still serving his country and humanity at 91 years old. I hope cancer treatment goes well for him!

I’ll never know for sure unless it happens, but I really think if I was 90 and diagnosed with cancer I’d just try to get any lose ends tied up and look toward the sunset. Just not sure I’d bother with any treatment.
