I am with you. The end came when I had blown 4 hours on my computer reading and posting one morning - I am trying to cut way back on this. Been spending a lot of time working on projects for the homeless and working in my garden which helps alleviate that sick feeling of futility that has enveloped me since November 2016. Since I am retired, I have the time. I love TPM and have a deep identification with a lot of the posters in these comments sections, but I have to watch out for my soul for the sake of my grandchildren and myself.
That being said, we have slid so far out of normal in this country that I worry we may not be able to climb back. We are terrible as a species at predicting the future, but even knowing that I still thought a presidency like Trump’s was an absolute impossibility. Just shows the heights that can be achieved when a political party decides that shame of any kind is no longer necessary as a safeguard against antidemocratic and antihuman policies.
EDIT: It is hard for me to stay this angry all of the time - it is exhausting.

I don’t give a damn what they say. For heavens sake, this is not a surprise. They are rightfully scared shitless because they are as guilty as Trump is. This is the modern Republican party, corrupt to the core. They picked a perfect day to make themselves clear, with their paymasters, the NRA, front and center once again. Before you lose hope remember they would never have come out with this crap if they weren’t running scared. Keep the faith.

To build on pshah’s comment (for some reason cannot figure out to reply to it), I think they are in a bind. They want Mueller to go away. If he continues, the drip and evidence continue to build; if they fire him, probably ensures that they lose the house and control of the Intelligence Committee, so the investigate would presumably restart. So they are trying to sound civil “Just go away, please.”. To m3man’s point; they sheer audacity of pressing Mueller to wrap up when they have Benghazi and Whitewater hanging over them, both blatantly partisan.

Thank you. I just get tired of we Democrats losing all hope every time the GOP pulls a turd out of their asses. They are terrified. They see the writing on the wall. We need to stay strong and united. We can do this. Keep fighting, never give up.
